Upcoming Indie Films You Definitely Need To See
The Miseducation Of Cameron Post (FilmRise, August 2018 (US), September 2018 (UK)) The Miseducation of Cameron Post is a drama based off the 2012 novel of the same title by Emily M. Danforth. Kick-Ass and Carrie's Chloë Grace Moretz stars as Cameron, a teenager who is discovering and exploring her homosexuality in a conservative town that doesn't understand. The plot of the movie will stir a sense of deja-vu if you're a fan of the 1999 hit But I'm A Cheerleader; after being found with the Prom Queen the main character gets shipped off to participate in Christian conversion therapy and befriends others who are also being told their sexuality is a sin. This is an indie that is set to be a hit and has received praise from Sundance for its wry sense of humour and criticism of gay conversion therapy. It hits the big screens in the US on 3rd August and premieres in the UK on 7th September.

Why Blade Runner 2049's Failure at the Box Office Doesn't Bode Well for the Future of Cinema
Blade Runner 2049 was a success in nearly every way; fans of the original were finally rewarded for their patience and loyalty, those unfamiliar with the original were treated to a gorgeous, intriguing, and immersive new world populated by dynamic, morally ambiguous characters, and cinephiles were astounded by Villeneuve's ambitious directorial skill, which was further enhanced by Deakins's nuanced cinematography and Zimmer and Wallfisch's ambient score. The movie paid homage to the original, with plenty of subtle easter eggs, Harrison Ford's return to the role of Deckard, and even several of the musical motifs from Vangelis's original score. The film's visual effects were state-of-the-art, further helping to craft a believable and mysterious, albeit bleak, world.

Utilitarian Standpoint: Entertainment Discrimination (Part 3)
I am an anime and book addict, through and through. But recently, the movie watching bug has caught me. [One, in a small city where there isn’t much to do, going to the movies provides me with a fresh (non-boring) experience, especially if you have an eclectic taste like moi. Two, I work seven days a week (64 hours), so my time availability for doing my favorite things (reading and anime) is extremely limited. Three, it’s a new hobby I’ve acquired to pass some time with my momma on a weekly basis.]

Is a Joker Origin Movie (Why So) Seriously Necessary?
With the recent casting of Joaquin Phoenix (Gladiator, Her) as infamous comic book villain the Joker, speculation has once again abounded from all corners of the internet and comic fandom. While no stranger to playing the bad guy as with Commodus in Ridley Scott's swords-and-sandals 2000 epic, this role is very different to much of what Phoenix has done before. That can be said with anyone who has taken this part before, to be fair, but it is still a daunting task with the power to make or break a reputation.
