Movie Review:'The Death of Dick Long' Surprisingly Human Dark Comedy
The Death of Dick Long was not what I was expecting it to be. Based off of the film’s trailer, I assumed The Death of Dick Long was going to be a dark comedy about hillbillies covering up their buddies death. That is part of the story, for sure, but what I didn’t expect was the level of humanity and drama in The Death of Dick Long. Instead of portraying well known redneck tropes, The Death of Dick Long gives these characters depth and dimension.

The Skeleton in My Closet is an Edward Cullen T-Shirt
The Twilight Saga changed me as a person. Well, more specifically, the Twilight Saga: Eclipse. On an offensively hot summer day in Citrus Park, Florida, a 13-year-old me persuaded my dad, a bona fide horror and sci-fi buff, to buy us two tickets to Eclipse with the promise of bloody conflict between vampires and werewolves. I thank God every day that my dad, also a bona fide workaholic, didn't have time to keep up with the latest pop culture and thus did not even know what Twilight was.

The Power of Silence in Cinema
When we watch movies and television, commenting on and admiring the cinematography, acting, styling, and score is pretty customary. After all, cinema is mostly defined and looked upon as a story told through a series of moving images. But there is one defining factor that, if done well, usually goes unnoticed, but if done poorly will immediately take you out of an otherwise immersive experience - and that is sound editing.

Jumanji: The Next Level
As a child, the 1995 Jumanji was always a part of weekends with my Nana. It was the first action adventure movie I really remember that wasn’t gory or bloody and didn’t get too scary for my fraidy-cat self. Robin Williams kept it interesting and made jokes that broke up the intensity so it wasn’t too much for a child to take in all at once.
