Time Trap | Movie Review

My Review of "Schooled: Season 2"
Schooled had a bit of a stumble at the very beginning. It didn't know what it wanted to be at first. I'm glad they figured out what they wanted to do with the series by the midpoint of season one. This season seems to run with that direction and further explores the possibilities for the show.

Why You Should Watch Tiger King!
For those in self isolation right now and being told to stay at home, this gives the perfect opportunity to binge watch some Netflix. A personal and worldwide favourite right now is Tiger King. This show is something else. Tiger King has crazy twists that grasps viewers’ attention from the very beginning and keeps the viewer wondering just what in the hell is going to happen next. This is my third time watching the series and I am still fascinated by it. I have persuaded nearly every friend and family member to watch Tiger King and every one of them could not turn away. In 2019, we live in an interesting time in terms of film marketing - using big names to push a film doesn’t really work anymore. Most people didn’t see ‘The Lion King’ because of Beyoncé; they saw it because of nostalgia. The term "A-list cast" is often thrown around, but doesn’t really have the same impact on audiences these days. Look at last year's ‘Ocean’s 8’: sure, it made money, but nowhere near what was expected. Even The Rock has lost his box office draw with films like ‘Rampage’, ‘Skyscraper’ and even ‘Fighting with my Family’ all falling below studio expectations, despite aggressive marketing campaigns that pushed the star. Even outside of Disney and Marvel (even Disney can’t bank on "big names" - look no further than ‘A Wrinkle in Time’), it’s clear that audiences are looking for familiar stories and not names as much as they used to. Directors also used to be a huge selling point, and with the exception of possibly Jordan Peele, this marketing scheme is another lost trade. James Cameron is aggressively still trying to do this; I don’t think I saw an ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ trailer that didn’t feature him yelling at you to see the film in 3D. There is only one director, at least in my mind, that can really use their name to sell a film - and that’s Quentin Tarantino.

Hidden Messages in Lion King, 2019
Immediately the concept of the reptilian overlords come to mind, the lions are the predator in the savannah, and also the leaders. Are they teaching us to metaphorically give our lives to the royals or that the royals plan to eat us, so long as we stay in the ‘light’, or are they saying that the lions are the equivalent of the Pleiadians and they look after us so long as we stay in the ‘light’, but if we enter the darkness and stray from our destined path we will end up with evil tyrannical rulers.
