Movie Review: 'Sophie Jones'
Sophie Jones stars actress Jessica Barr in the title role of a teenager who is in a tailspin following the death of her mother. Sophie is 16 years old and when we meet her, it’s not long since the passing of her mother. Sophie is still adjusting to the loss and as we watch we see her seemingly playing with her late mother’s ashes. It’s inconceivable and yet, childish curiosity is a trait that fits the character of Sophie.

Movie Review: 'Raya and the Last Dragon'
Raya and the Last Dragon is a tough sit for anyone over the age of 9. That's not a bad thing in that the movie was made with 9 year old's in mind, that's great. As a kids movie, I can't fault anything about Raya and the Last Dragon. The animation is stunning, it's absolutely gorgeous to look at. The story is basic and entirely inoffensive... sort of, for the most part. UGH! (See post-script)

Turning Water Into Wine
I hear dead people. That, of course, isn’t my line. I’m quoting, albeit with a slight modification, The Sixth Sense, written by embattled writer-director M. Night Shyamalan. But for the record, I do hear dead people. No, seriously, I do. So do you. Dead people are all around us, talking to us, usually through the works and words they left behind, inspiring us. Uncle Tom’s Cabin, for instance: “The longest way must have its close—the gloomiest night will wear on to a morning.” You just heard the words of a dead person. You read them, sure, but as you did so, there was an inner voice in your head; that is the voice of Harriet Beecher Stowe. And here’s her pic. Take a good look because as of now, you’ve officially seen and heard a dead person. So, yes, you see dead people too.

If This Then That: Pretty Woman
If you love “Indecent Proposal” another great movie you must see “Pretty Woman.” David Murphy (Woody Harrelson) convinced his wife to sleep with a wealthy businessman and he also loss the woman he loved the most for a while. The movies are similar but in my opinion “Pretty Woman” is the best romance movie for how it changed the general public’s view on sex workers and it made sex workers understandable and lovable. While indecent proposal was darker it did not make it a better film in my opinion. But it had all the variables to create the classic romance story that it is.

Marvel's Avengers movies are the modern martial arts genre.
If you're like me, in your thirties, overweight, a little too into Power Rangers as a kid, then maybe you liked watching Jackie Chan movies growing up. Maybe you even caught the Jackie Chan Adventures cartoon when you were at that age where it was just starting to become a faux pas to watch kid's cartoons. Maybe you fought with your friends about how Jackie Chan totally didn't voice himself in the cartoon. HE'S A BUSY MAN JASON. JUST DROP IT!

Movie Review: 'Tyger Tyger'
The new movie Tyger Tyger suffers from the strange affliction of having a far more interesting backstory than the story being told in the movie. The film was written and directed by Kerry Mondragon and explores his own troubled history with drug abuse to tell a story about the often surreal, beautiful and dangerous world of addiction. The film is set inside a real life fringe community in California that proves to be way more interesting than the story of the movie.
