Sexuality, and the power of a celebrity crush.
Oh, celebrity crushes! Whether it is someone you’re willing to brag to your friends about or a guilty pleasure that you keep private, they’re great for the odd day-dream whereby you can pretend to be married to them, living the life of luxury.

Dimples To Die For: Reflecting on A.C. Slater, my Childhood Crush. Third Place in OG Celebrity Crush Challenge.
Dear Reader, let me give you some insight on my adolescent self growing up. I spent every waking moment during childhood with my eyes glued onto the TV. I would try to stay up on a school night because Ghost was on. I identified with Sophia Petrillo when I was 8 years old. I had a physical TV Guide and highlighted programs I anticipated watching because this would potentially be the only time I'd be able to watch Dumb and Dumber until it aired on TBS again - We have a connection, you see! The movie released the same year I was born so I have to watch it!

Celebrity which I looked up to not so much a crush: DENZEL WASHINTON
It's difficult to write a story about one celebrity that I have always wanted to meet or had a crush about. If I had to choose it would have been Denzel Washington. His movie career has been so wide ranged and diversified throughout the years. Whenever I watch one of his movies, I often forget it is an actual nonfiction story. He puts his entire soul into every role. My favorite movie of all is Malcolm X. He played that role as if his body had become man. Anyone can tell he studied for the role in order to be so compiling. On the other spectrum he became the star of Training Day and showed an entirely different person. Yet, when he played the role in The Preacher's Wife we got to see a more playful side of him as an angel. However, the role in Training Day and Fallen was so opposite each other if the viewers had never seen great acting, there would be a wonderment as to where did he go for his training. He was able to capture each character with futuristic style and showmanship no one else can ever obtain. I just think Mr. Washington could have his own acting school because of his ability to teach through his own skills. No other person can act in such a manner that is one usable by schools for acting. Now, when I watched A Soldier's Story, Antwon Fisher and Courage Under Fire those two movies literally helped me personally with my own military career as a African American female military officer. He gave out such strong advice as a commander. It helped me along my way to each rank I made until my medical retirement. Now, when I watched Philadelphia the very first time, I had so many tears going down my face, I couldn't complete the movie. I finally got the courage to finish it only to have more tears. Even now when I watch the tears still flow and I need time to reflect on both actors in the movie. Yet it is Mr. Washington's role I know had to be the hardest during that period of time. It takes me back to when I worked in the hospital, where I had to care for HIV+ patients and even those with full blown AIDS.

I Wish that I Were Jesse’s Girl
Have mercy! What can I say, I definitely wish that I were Jesse’s girl. My OG celebrity crush is John Stamos. He is the whole reason I started watching Full House. I had to see Uncle Jesse. I think that he is the epitome of sexy. He is the cat’s meow and the pur. I don’t know how he ever got through airport security when he traveled because he is the bomb. In fact, when I was a junior in high school, the first day of English class, my teacher Mr. Vargo asked us to show or tell about someone important to us. Without hesitation, I was the first to pull out my flip phone ( I can’t believe I ever thought flip phones were cool); and, I professed to my peers my undying love for John Stamos.

Kathleen Kennedy and Steven Spielberg Said That Only Harrison Ford Can Play Indiana Jones
With the ongoing pandemic, it is easy to forget the status of something like the next Indiana Jones film, which has been in development for about a dozen years, pretty much since the fourth film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. When this film came out in 2008, some fans did not feel very enthused with the sci-fi elements of that installment. There was a time when people thought that perhaps it would be a reboot, with Chris Pratt rumored to take on the role. With the lack of recent updates and the film generally being off of people’s radars, it may be worth looking at what we know so far.

It's Love, Actually
Let me set the scene for you. I was probably around age 6, spending the weekend with my Grandma in December. I stayed with her every other weekend and we’d always watch a film before bed. As it was nearly Christmas, my Grandma recommended that we watch a Christmas movie, even though it was I hadn’t heard of. She said it wasn’t animated, so I instantly felt grown up to be watching a film with real people in it. We started watching it, and I was enjoying it, and then BOOM. There he is. A small, ginger boy with a cute face who is called Sam. Hello, first celebrity crush.

My 1st Ever Celebrity Crush
I don’t usually write about celebrities but I decided since Vocal was running a contest in which one could possibly win a cash prize talking about their first ever celebrity crush I decided to just wing it and write about mine and see what happened. I have the perfect celeb to write about too, he’s smart, funny, selfless, talented, as well as sexy. My first celebrity crush ever was Johnny Depp. My crush started when I was a little girl (I was only 7 years old) watching 21 Jump Street, there was just something about him that immediately attracted me to him. I next saw him in his first movie ever which was the first Nightmare on Elm St where he played the main character Nancy’s boyfriend and later becomes known as the kid Freddy killed in his bed. That scene is one of the most unforgettable scenes in horror movie history. I became hooked. I saw his next movie Cry Baby and like most girls I swooned over him. The next movie I saw him in was Edward Scissorhands along side a young Winona Ryder. He gave such an amazing performance that I remember (even at the age of 10) being able to feel his characters pain. I next went on to watch him in many more movies such as What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and one of my all time favorites Benny and Joon. I used to spend my allowance money on teen magazines just so I could have pictures of Johnny all over my bedroom walls. Now that I’m an adult the crush still sticks, as a matter of fact I once had a friend tell me that if someone crushes on someone for over 20 years it means that they are in love with that person. I guess I must be in love because I have had a crush on Johnny for 33 years and counting. I have seen ALL of his movies, (good and bad), and I have listened to all of his music from the Rock City Angels to the Hollywood Vampires and I must say he is just as talented a singer and guitarist as he is an actor, I have even gone to California just to visit his former club the Viper Room, which sadly he no longer owns due to the disappearance of co-owner Anthony Fox. I hate that his ex Amber Heard made such disgusting false allegations against him in order to ruin his career and his good name as well as to also make publicity for herself in order to further her career. Johnny Depp is such an amazing person. He visits hospitals full of sick children dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow and takes pictures with them and signs autographs just to bring smiles to their little faces and unlike a lot of celebrity fathers he can never be called a deadbeat dad because his children have always come first since the day they were born. He does charity work and he even tried to save the life of his best friend River Phoenix when he overdosed at his club on Halloween night back in 1993. He also gave all the money he made for the film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, to Matilda, the daughter of the late Heath Ledger who also starred in the movie but sadly passed away before the movie was finished. He has won numerous awards for his films as well as his music. He may be rich but he’s still a humble guy straight out of Kentucky. He is and always will be my all time favorite actor and my first and only long-standing celebrity crush.
