My Review of "Wild Robot"
Wow, this is a really entertaining movie. I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Wild Robot is a coming of age movie about identity. It came out recently in the theatres and not starting to show up on streaming. Initially, I came into this movie not knowing much and I think that's probably the best way of getting into it. If you haven't checked it out already. This is probably one of the best animated features of the year. I just saw Transformers One this week too. That was a great animated movie as well. Great animated features are back!
The movie starts out with a huge storm. With the storm there is a plane carrying a lot of service robots. Out of the huge cargo of robots survives only one robot. This robot is trying to make sense of what's going on. Its primary directive is to serve but there's no one to serve on the island that she's abandoned on. The only creatures around are animals.
I love how this movie explains how all of the animals hate each other because they are all part of the food chain. Each one of them has to fear another because they might get eaten. Everyone is basically a savage animal as they have to fend for themselves.
Due to the robot's prime directive, it can't do anything but try to help out these animals. It's kind of its undoing because the animals will all take full advantage of this poor misguided robot. Eventually one situation goes a little too far and the robot is propelled into a goose next. There the robot accidentally kills a family of geese except for one egg.
This egg eventually hatches and imprints on the robot and the two will bond. The problem is that the gosling has to grow up and migrate or else it will die on the island. That's basically the robot's new prime directive.
It's a fairly simple premise but all of the loveable characters that they encounter really paint a brighter picture. The interactions and relationships among the character also have a nice continuity that makes sense. This movie is paced so well where you don't even notice that you're bonding with all of the characters in the movie at the same time.
The challenges, twists and turns really have an impact because I was so invested in all of the characters. Each of them have a little spotlight despite the multitude of characters there are in this movie. I could imagine that they might even make this into a TV show eventually. There was a sense that I knew everyone on the island and they were sort of my friends as well.
On top of all of that, they have a really cool artistic direction with this movie. Everything looks beautiful and almost painted feel to it. The music encapsulates the mood and the tension of all of the scenes. This movie really absorbs you. I know I felt I was on this island because of all of the intricate details they added to this movie.
Overall, this was a no brainer. I initially came in with no expectations and I was wowed and dazzled by the visuals, the audio and the story. They paced this movie so well I didn't even know time was passing by. It totally immersed me into the world where I felt an affinity for all of the characters in the movie. They all felt like my best friends and I wanted to just live there with them. A stark contrast from the very beginning of the movie. I can't recommend this movie enough. It is one of my top animated movies that's why I have to give this movie a 10 out of 10.
