Ian Buchanan has not been confirmed as returning to The Bold and the Beautiful

Rumors that Dr. James Warrick will show up and date Taylor remain unsubstantiated.

Is Dr. Warrick headed back to LA?

The soap opera rumor mill is at it again with an unsubstantiated claim. This time, the story that is spreading is about a character on The Bold and the Beautiful. Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig) recently had a book by Dr. James Warrick (Ian Buchanan) that has led to talk about the character's return.

Some spoiler alert sites are posting that Buchanan venturing back into daytime has been confirmed and that he will be a love interest for Dr. Hayes, rather than Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan). This is only speculation and wishful thinking at this point.

When Dr. Warrick was last on B&B, it was because Eric Forrester (John McCook) asked him to verify that Sheila was rehabilitated. He left town after Sheila learned from their daughter, Mary, that he was addicted to prescription painkillers. She threatened to tell Eric that James was writing himself prescriptions, and he disappeared.

Clickbait continues in Facebook groups

Soap fans know by now to double-check rumors by learning if the information is on trusted sites. Clickbait continues to be a problem related to soap spoilers, which are often shared as though they were facts.

Neither CBS nor the actor has stated that he is returning to daytime television. Still, fans are excited and hopeful that the rumors will become a reality.

Buchanan is best known for playing Duke Lavery on General Hospital from 1986 until 2020, when his character was shot by Carlos Rivera (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) on the orders of Julian Jerome (William deVry). As Warrick, he was on B&B on contract: 1993–1999 and recurring in 2004, 2008–2009, 2011, 2017.

Fans are saying they would like to see the character return because he has a history with Taylor and Sheila Sharpe (Kimberlin Brown). He and Sheila have a daughter, Mary, together. How likely is it that Buchanan will reprise his role? Anything is possible, but let's take a look at his current situation.

Buchanan has been away from B&B for eight years. He married Antonio Hendricks in 2020, and they live in Europe. They are good friends with Anthony Geary, who portrayed Luke Spencer on General Hospital.

Although GH fans would love to see Luke return from the dead, Geary has said several times that he is not interested in returning to the US. He resides in Amsterdam with his husband, Claudio Gama.

In interviews, he said he could live his life without people in his business in Europe. Fans interpret this to mean that he can be openly gay away from the US, although the actor did not say those precise words.

Will Dr. Warrick return?

All it takes is for a few people to discuss a possible scenario in Facebook groups to get a rumor started. Someone else runs with it by sharing it to other groups, and the next thing you know, it's being reported as fact. Clickbait articles are written and take on a life of their own.

Does the mention of Dr.Warwick indicate that the character will return, or is Taylor just going down memory lane? If he does show up in LA, will Ian Buchanan be in the role or will there be a different actor who plays the shrink?

Ian Buchanan has not indicated whether he will return to the US or remain in Europe like Geary, so it's possible he could reprise this character. At this time, however, he has not done so.

The Bold and the Beautiful fans should be watching for updates from reliable sources to learn if James Warrick is returning and if he will be a love interest for Taylor.
