A tribute to Sweet Sam McCall

General Hospital aired a tribute to Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) on the anniversary of her death on Halloween 2024. Some fans see this as hypocritical since the soap vet was fired.

The episodes that took place on Friday. Monday and Tuesday were bittersweet. Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), Danny Morgan (Ashton Antonyzn), Scout Cain ( Cozette Abinante), Molly Lansing Davis ( Kristgen Varganos), and Kristina Corinthos Davis ( Kate Mansi) all remembered Sweet Sam.

Even Congressman Cutthroat Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) let down his guard a bit and allowed Scout to spend time with her mother's family. Some GH fans wondered why the ABC soap would honor a character they killed off. The answer to that is that it's storyline-driven, business as usual, and nothing personal.

Why has Monaco not followed through?

Still, the question looms of what happened with Monaco and the revelations she promised her followers. Shortly after her departure, Kelly was supposed to tell all to her fans, but it never happened. She later announced that she was starting a Podcast, Bad Bunnies, with Shana Moakler.

The Podcast title alludes to the fact that both women posed naked in Playboy. Monaco promised to spill the tea and tell Hollywood secrets that no one wanted revealed. Fans assumed they would get some answers through the Podcast but the project seems to have been scrapped without any explanation.

After her best friend Billy Miller, died by suicide, Monaco had also promised her followers to give details about how Miller was treated on General Hospital, where he portrayed Jason Morgan and later Drew Cain. This news was never revealed either.

These three promises that Kelly did not keep have General Hospital fans wondering what is going on. Why would the actress tease her followers and have them waiting for information and a Podcast that never materialized? Was Monaco stringing her fans along on purpose?

Did she intend to reveal details, or was she placed under some type of gag order? Bad Bunnies was. seperate from whatever went on behind the scenes at GH. Why didn't she or Moakler alert their potential audience that the Podcast was delayed or they decided not to go through with it?

Unsubstantiated rumors persist

Several unsubstantiated rumors were floating around about the soap Vet who also appeared on Loving and General Hospital Night Shift. One was that GH executive producer Fran Valentini put a stop to the Podcast so Kelly would not reveal secrets.

Another was that Monaco was being followed, and someone was watching her house in an attempt to silence her, and that she was getting late-night phone calls. Allegedly, she and Moakler could not find a host for Bad Bunnies, which is why it was scrapped.

When she first left General Hospital, Monaco said her firing was "retaliation at its finest." Some fans believe she has been "radio silent" due to a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) or legal counsel.

Was Kelly prepared to tell all, only to learn she could be sued if she opened her mouth? She has not responded in a year since Sam died, so she probably will not update her fans anytime soon.

Her last credited role outside of GH was Baby Daddy in 2015. Her followers are wondering if she has found a new job and how she is doing now one year later.

Those who are curious can only watch and wait to see if anything will be revealed in the future. Dear Kelly Monaco, Your General Hospital fans are waiting for you to explain. Maybe she will and maybe she won't. At least the soap remembered Sam on the anniversary of her death.
