With Christopher Landon telling The Hollywood Reporter that he would love to make another Happy Death Day, but the chances are slim because the film requires a larger budget, it almost seems as though the third installment has been canceled. "This third movie needs a bigger budget, but since the second movie didn’t perform as well as the first, it’s a tall order," the director of horrors stated. "No movement at all" has been seen on Happy Death Day 3, according to Landon, who recently spoke to Slashfilm.

It was likely hindered by Landon's ambitious plan to shut down the franchise.

In an interview with The Wrap, Landon disclosed the plot details for Happy Death Day 3, titled Happy Death Day to Us, even though the most recent Happy Death Day 3 updates suggest that the movie won't be made. Landon claims that Happy Death Day 3 was intended to be a much larger-scale, high-budget apocalyptic adventure. "So it’s very hard to motivate them to make a third movie when the last one just didn’t perform," Landon stated.

Producer Jason Blum claims that the success of Happy Death Day 2U at the box office was used to decide whether a third movie would be produced. Happy Death Day made $125 million worldwide after opening at $26 million in the US alone in 2017. Happy Death Day 2U made $26 million worldwide in its first five days of release, but only $14 million in the US.

Story of Happy Death Day Three

Day 2 of Happy Death The plot of Happy Death Day 3 is already established in U's post-credits scene.
