Charles Measure walks away from his General Hospital role as Jack Brenan and Chris McKenna takes over
Measure was said to have a difficult time working in soaps and his replacement debuted on February 4

A new Brennan has been cast
One thing soap fans know is that there are always changes. Sometimes they come wioth advance warnings and other times they happen without any warning. On Tuesday, February 4, General Hospital fans will be in for a shock as the role of Jack Brennan has been recast. No reason has been given, but Charles Measure, who viewers love, said from day one that he was not sure he could handle the fast pace of daytime television.
When he joined the cast, he said he did not think an old dog could learn new tricks because soap actors have to know more lines in a shorter time than primetime celebrities. Deadline reports that the actor has walked away from the popular character, and soap vet Chris McKenna will take over.
GH fans loved Charles Measure
Fans fell in love with the handsome Measure and enjoyed his immediate chemistry with Laura Wright (Carly Spencer). Viewers were thrilled when the couple kissed last week and eager to see where the relationship was headed. Now, that will not happen. GH viewers thought a new super couple was in the making and fans had no idea, Friday, January 31, was Measure's last day.
McKenna is a soap vet
If McKenna seems familir it's because he has been on three other daytime drama shows an din other TV shows and films.
McKenna is known to daytime television audiences for his portrayal of Joey Buchanan on ABC's daytime soap opera One Life to Live from 1990 to 1993.[1] McKenna is also known for playing the lead role in the 2003 film King of the Ants, a role which earned him critical acclaim.
McKenna portrayed Mark Harding on The Young and the Restless and Dr. Hayden on The Bold and the Beautiful. In October 22, 2000, McKenna portrayed Greg, a college jock who wants to join the Phi Iota Gamma fraternity in the CBS television drama Touched by an Angel on CBS. He has now joined the cast of General Hospital as Jack Brennan and has big shoes to fill. Measure was a strong presence, a force to be recokonned with and fans adored him.
GH fans will have to adjust
Soap fans are sorry to lose Charles Measure, but are used to sudden changes and will adapt. Chris McKenna is a soap vet who understands the pace. Hopefully, he and Laura Wright will be a good fit, and viewers can still be on board with Carly and Jack becoming a couple. Measure came across like the men in those old romance novels who swept women off their feet and older GH fans were loving it.
The actor was 54, as is Wright and his recast is 47 and looks a lot younger. It may take some time for viewers to get used to a younger Brennan with a different persona. Some may even be critical as they were when Tabyana Ali took over the role of Trina Robinson but now she is loved.
Charles Measure will be missed
McKenna's last credit is listed as the film Suitable Flesh, a continuation of King of the Ants. Best of luck to Charles Measure in whatever future endeavors he embarks upon. Hopefully, General Hospital fans will give McKenna a chance to play Brennan his way.
GH viewers were on the edge of their seats waiting for Brennan and Carly to give in to their passion, and now they never will with Measure in the role. Perhaps the chemistry between Chris McKenna and wright will be as trong only in a different way. Stay tuned for updates and spoilers and tune in Tuesday tio see the new version of Jack Brennan.
