Avengers: Doomsday Cast Adds 2 More Returning MCU Characters — Rumor
Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool Rumored for Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Doomsday Rumors Hint at Wolverine, X-23, and Deadpool
A new rumor surrounding the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday seems to confirm the inclusion of a previously reported character, as well as two other fan-favorite heroes. With so much speculation swirling, this could be one of the most stacked Marvel films to date.
What Is the Latest Avengers: Doomsday Rumor?
In a recent post on social media, fans asked insider Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus about the conflicting reports on Ryan Reynolds’ inclusion in the film. The Hollywood Reporter initially stated that Reynolds would be part of Doomsday, while Deadline hinted otherwise, suggesting Marvel Studios was keeping his role uncertain.

When pressed for clarity, Perez backed up THR’s report, confidently confirming that Reynolds’ Deadpool would indeed appear in the film. But he didn’t stop there. Perez also teased the return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Dafne Keen’s X-23. His short response — “they’re in” — paired with GIFs of all three heroes, set off a wave of excitement across the fandom.
Wolverine and X-23 Join the Battle
Jackman’s Wolverine was last seen on-screen in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, where he reprised the iconic role after seemingly retiring with Logan in 2017. His return not only gave fans a new take on the clawed mutant but also opened the door for Marvel to integrate X-Men characters into the MCU timeline.

Alongside Jackman, Dafne Keen’s X-23 is also rumored to be making her comeback. She made her debut in Logan as Laura, a young mutant cloned from Wolverine’s DNA, and quickly became a breakout favorite. Fans have been waiting years to see her story continue, and her inclusion in Doomsday could provide a natural way to expand the mutant lineage inside the MCU.
With Deadpool, Wolverine, and X-23 all appearing, Marvel seems to be leaning into the multiverse-heavy storylines that have dominated recent projects. If these rumors are true, Avengers: Doomsday may serve as a true crossover event — one that finally bridges the gap between the MCU and Fox’s legacy X-Men films.
A Reunion of X-Men Legends
Jackman and Keen are far from the only mutants rumored to return. Reports have already confirmed that a large roster of former X-Men actors will reprise their roles. That includes Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Ian McKellen’s Magneto, Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique, and James Marsden’s Cyclops.
Perhaps the most surprising name is Channing Tatum, finally stepping into the role of Gambit after years of false starts and canceled projects. This ensemble not only satisfies long-time fans of the Fox-era X-Men films but also creates endless possibilities for interactions with established MCU heroes.
The Confirmed Avengers: Doomsday Cast
Even without the rumored additions, the Doomsday cast list is already staggering. Returning MCU characters include:
- Chris Hemsworth as Thor
- Anthony Mackie as Captain America
- Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier
- Paul Rudd as Ant-Man
- Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther
- Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards
- Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman
Other major names include Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Winston Duke as M’Baku, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki.

On the Fantastic Four side, Joseph Quinn will play Johnny Storm/Human Torch, while Ebon Moss-Bachrach brings Ben Grimm/The Thing to life. Kelsey Grammer is back as Beast, Lewis Pullman takes on Bob/Sentry, and Danny Ramirez will appear as the new Falcon.
It’s one of the largest Marvel ensembles ever, rivaling Infinity War and Endgame in scope.
When Will Avengers: Doomsday Release?
Avengers: Doomsday is set to release in theaters on December 18, 2026. While Marvel has not confirmed every rumored character, the sheer size of the announced cast suggests this will be the biggest crossover since Avengers: Endgame. If Wolverine, Deadpool, and X-23 truly join the fight, this could become one of the most ambitious superhero films of all time.
