5 Mind-blowing Short Non-fiction Books to Start Your Reading Journey With
Less Pages, More Wisdom

Being a new reader the number one problem we face is the length of the book. You already have this thought in your mind that completing a book is more or less like climbing a mountain. If I talk about my own experience, I completed my first book in 5 months. Yes, you read that right, I took almost 5 months to complete my first book. The book was 400 pages long and every time I sat to read it, I used to forget what happened in the last chapter so I had to read a few pages again.
I believe the primary reason why people leave their first book in between is because they convince themselves that this book is too big for them. To solve this problem, I have come with 5 amazing short non-fiction books that you can complete in just one or two sittings. These books are not only short but equally interesting and attention-grabbing.
5 Mind-blowing Short Non-fiction Books to Start Your Reading Journey With:
1. The Richest Man In Babylon: I am sure you must have heard about the “Rich Dad Poor Dad” book, let’s just say that this book is an effective mini-version of it. This book is less than 150 pages yet the money lessons in this book will change your thinking. The author has discussed 3 key money lessons that everyone should adopt to create wealth and understand how money works. Unlike other financial books, this book is written in a fictional manner which makes it even more interesting for new readers. If you want to know about the finance world but you don’t want to get bored, The Richest Man In Babylon is for you.
2. Who Moved My Cheese: If you are someone who is looking for some motivation or if you fear change then this book will change your perspective on “change.” This book revolves around 4 mice who are stuck in a maze. The story takes you on a journey of two of the mice so that you can know “what happens when you get too comfortable at a place or when you are not ready to change.” Written in less than 100 pages, this book will break your myths and make you a little more self-aware of your current situation. I think this is one of the books that every beginner must read in order to find out “where you truly stand and why you are not able to achieve success”
3. The Rudest Book Ever: First thing first, the book is really rude at times because it will introduce reality and to your current status which we all avoid at times. I was really fascinated by the chapter where the author talks about how we build an imaginary world where we have fairytale stories but when those things don’t happen in reality that hurt us. In this book, the author has covered many aspects of life, people, relationships, happiness, self satisfaction, success & failures, the online world of show-off, etc.
4. Tuesdays with Morrie: I don’t know what I should say about this magical book, it touched my heart and left me speechless.
“Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live”
This book is about the life of two people, a student and a professor called Morrie. These professors and students used to discuss the meaning of life on Tuesday. Morrie was a kind of professor who didn’t care about grades but practical learning. According to him, what keeps us different from all other species and animals is the power of loving and caring for each other. His whole life is about companionship and understanding others. If you’re someone who is struggling in his/her personal life then this book will work like a miracle.
5. The 22 laws of marketing: I am really sick with some of the television commercials and the way brands are advertising themselves. Every brand is saying “we are No.1” even when they have just entered into the market. The book shows us 22 laws of marketing that can be really impactful.
The book is filled with real life examples like Burger King vs McDonald’s, Honda vs Toyota, etc. With each marketing trick, the author has shown the real life examples of brands who either became successful with those tricks or failed by doing the opposite. If you love marketing, this is the best book to start your reading journey with.
One of the reasons why I shared these books with you is when you complete a whole book as a new reader, you feel accomplished and proud. And you also build trust in yourself that you can complete a book which further motivates you to start a new book. And this cycle continues till you become an avid reader.
