The History of Asian Jewelry
Asian jewelry originated in many parts of the world, including India, China, and other Southeast Asian countries. This jewelry is characterized by its unique design and techniques. It has become popular in recent decades thanks to the efforts of artists from these regions. The pieces are often made with traditional techniques and combine contemporary elements. As a result, they are incredibly diverse and represent different cultures. This diversity makes them particularly interesting to collectors. However, when choosing your new Asian jewelry piece, it's important to be mindful of its history.

The Real-Life Disney's "Mulan" Comes From Serbia
The role of women in the history of war is largely ignored. They are often behind the scenes to support their men on the battlefield. During the Balkan War in 1912, in a scene straight out of Disney’s Mulan, one Serbian woman took it upon herself to head straight for the frontlines, risking her life for her family and country.

Women as Queen Bees in Antiquity
Women in antiquity: a topic scarcely studied and, in many accounts, misunderstood. While the study of women in antiquity is only just now beginning to gain momentum, it has the ability to provide connections not only to the ancient societies of the Mediterranean and to the marginalized daily life of women within the patriarchy, but to issues of modern feminism. Within the city-states of ancient Athens and Rome, women were undoubtedly an integral component of social unity, and the vital importance of their central and organizational role inside the busy structure of a given household provides a context for the success of entire city-states. I will therefore be looking at the head woman/wife within the average household in antiquity and likening her to a queen bee in a hive. For the purpose of this discussion, imagine each household as a hive filled with workers and drones (often, in antiquity, slaves), presided over by the foremost woman as queen bee. While this analogy appears to stumble when taking into account the head man/husband within each respective household (commonly referred to as paterfamilias [in Rome] and kyrios [in Greece]), I have decided to liken this central male figure to the beekeeper. Like a beekeeper, the man is dependent on the success of the hive, but is not as influential within the hive as the queen bee herself.

“Wow! How’d You Stay So Youthful?” - Let Me Guess: Olive Oil?
It’s no secret that a lot of us look up to celebrities when it comes to fashion, diet, and beauty. After all, they are the epitome of what society is *supposed* to view as perfection. There are endless articles based on interviews with celebrities sharing their skin care routines and humble DIY hacks on how to maintain their youthful appearance. Unfortunately, while I would love to believe that sleep, genetics, quality sera, and olive oil kept us all looking young forever, I am not fooled by these “hacks”, and neither should you. That said, I’m not denying that there may be some truth to these basic additions to improve the quality of your skin, however, I do find it hard to believe that celebrities with net worths up to $400M, who essentially have half of their decisions made by managers, directors, and all kinds of coaches, with the constant pressure of having to look perfect, are wrinkle free in their 50s and 60s without even a single drop of Botox or Filler. This may not apply to the very rare cases of excellent genetics, but I truly believe that some celebrities and social media influencers do hide a little bit of the truth. For what reason? Because they don’t want to be shamed for cosmetic treatments.

The Last Faberge's The Pope's Revenge
In the year 1119, the first crusade had already captured Jerusalem when Geoffrey Bison was on his way to join Hugues de Payens and seven others on their way to Vienna. These nine soldiers of fortune were soon to become known as the Templar Knights. For the next ten years they cleared the pathways from Belgrade to Istanbul protecting pilgrims on their way to the Holy Lands. It was in 1129 when Pope Innocent II sanctioned the Templar's as an official arm of the Catholic Church that began one of the most storied chapters in the history of the world. When the First Crusade captured Jerusalem thirty year earlier the Templar's were able to now take refuge in the remains of the Temple of Solomon. Over the course of next ten years the Knights managed to uncover and stealthily remove the treasure of the ages. From 1134 to around 1144 these 9 Templar Knights managed to retrieve vast riches that were hidden under the Temple of Solomon. Though under allegiance to the Pope one would have thought that all this wealth would immediately go on to Rome but instead Hugues de Payens and Count Hugh of Champagne decided it would be better if the treasure was hidden in four separate locations all through-out Europe. Only a token amount went to Pope Innocent II. It is said that from then on every Papal succession was possessed in locating the Templar's treasure. In the end it was Pope Clement V who along with the King of France became so jealous of the Templar's wealth that they conspired to eliminate the order all together not realizing that all the riches of the Templar's would remain hidden forever.
