11 Minutes to Space: A Journey Beyond the Earth

On April 14, 2025, on the Blue Origin's Launch Site One, about 30 miles north of Van Horn, Texas, at 14:30 BST (08:30 local time).

The countdown had begun. In less than a minute, the engines beneath the sleek New Shepard rocket would roar to life, propelling its passengers beyond the familiar confines of Earth. For Katy Perry, Gayle King, and their all-female crew, this was more than a trip. It was history in motion.

With an eruption of fire and force, the spacecraft surged upward, leaving behind the desert launch pad in West Texas.

Then came the moment they had been waiting for microgravity. The sensation was surreal. Their bodies, freed from the pull of Earth, floated effortlessly within the cabin.

Laughter bubbled up as they reached out, touching suspended droplets of water and watching them dance through the air. Through the massive four-foot windows, Earth appeared in breathtaking clarity a blue sphere, alive with swirls of white clouds.

Katy pressed her hand against the glass, taking in the sight. "It's like looking at a miracle," she whispered. Gayle, beside her, wiped away a silent tear. The world they had known seemed both immense and fragile from this vantage point.

"You look down at the planet and you think, that's where we came from?" crew member Gayle King said upon the rocket's return to Earth.

They used reusable rocket which will push the capsule into space before detaching and gently push back to the earth.

But space would not hold them forever. The capsule, reaching the edge of its arc past the Kármán Line, began its inevitable descent. A gentle pull signaled the return of gravity. Outside, the booster had already separated, making its way to a precise landing on the pad below.

They won't have long to enjoy it, as the capsule will start its return to Earth after just minutes in space before deploying its parachutes and landing safely.

When capsule enter the earth atmosphere With expert precision, three massive parachutes unfurled, slowing their fall. The capsule drifted back toward Earth, touching down within miles of its launch site.

The hatch opened, flooding the cabin with desert sunlight, and the crew stepped onto solid ground once more.

In this 11 minute To Space journey, six- female crew including Jeff Bezos' fiancé Lauren Sánchez, pop star Katy Perry, CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King, film producer Kerianne Flynn, activist Amanda Nguyen, and former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe.

They had done it. Eleven minutes, an eternity and an instant rolled into one. They had left the world, seen its wonders, and returned, forever changed.

Their journey was brief, but the impact? Infinite.
