A Choice
The Choice D. A. Ratliff What do you write on a blank page? Let’s face it, words mean something. Isolated words provide little meaning. They must intertwine to impart thoughts, hopes, wisdom, and sometimes convey emotions, ranging from the darkest pain to the highest joy.

When One Door Closes. Honorable Mention in The Second First Time Challenge.
“Shannon, say something,” Derek prompted. He was only standing a few feet away but his voice seemed so distant. The living room seemed to be tilting, she was going to fall. She grabbed the back of the armchair to steady herself. There was popcorn and an overturned bowl on the green rug. Had she dropped it? She’d need to clean it up before they left. After my well-trained words, many sent money.

They had ideas, subscriptions to collaborative tools, and a shared desire to be free in a world run by blurry clients and clearer algorithms.
