Midnight Dominion
It was a title that young Simon couldn’t resist. Midnight Dominion: Play or be played. It had just come out in the Synapse store; the premier online marketplace for video games and other indie software. The game was so new to the store, it had no legitimate reviews. Simon knew those were not faked reviews by its developers. He had learned the hard way that rave reviews for a newly released game meant that it was a shiny piece of frag fodder.

To Err is Human.
–Look over there, Lieutenant Highly. That one! What a beauty! The captain motions as the planet emerges into view. I nod, turning my periscope towards the planet below me. I have been guiding this ship through the galaxies for years, but it is always the little earth planet that I enjoy coming back to. The surface shows a bluish-green little planet, which is not very impressive at first glance, but something draws me to it. The captain fiddles with a few buttons on her console and points again to the planet called Earth. Bulleted listings of assignments are lasered onto my duties roster in .002 seconds. The planet’s neighborhoods zoom into view, though I am aware that our invisibility remains.

The Day The Earth Stood Still
It started like any other Autumn day in November, but then it happened.... Everything began to float! "How could this be?", I thought, as I lifted from my chair, but my chair was lifting with me. As I got to the ceiling, so did everything in the room. I looked out the window, my cat, Shadow, went by and headed towards the clouds. She looked at me and meowed, as if to say "What the hell?". She grabbed the edge of the roof with her claws, but was unable to hold on and continued to float off into space. I couldn't imagine what was happening! I turned on the TV after I crawled my way across the ceiling to get to it. Nothing about the news broadcasts looked normal. Everyone was in a panic and trying to let us all know what was going on, even when they weren't completely sure yet. Apparently, the craziest thing imagined had happened....The Earth had stopped turning!!! The Earth's rotation is what causes gravity, so since it had stopped, there was no gravity. Everything that was not anchored into the ground was just floating into space! No one knew why, nor how this could have happened! Nor did they know what to do about it, or if it would begin to rotate again, nor when that might happen. They reported that all of the cars and anyone who wasn't in buildings had just floated away and that their fate was unknown. All airplanes, ships and other mass transit vehicles were unaccounted for. How could this be? I was no scientist, but I knew this wasn't a very good thing at all!! Although, I did enjoy flying through my home by just pushing off from anywhere...that was really fun! Nothing was going to work the way it always had unless something was done about gravity. No one could leave where they were, except the idiots that didn't believe in COVID-19. They didn't believe any of this either, so they just walked out of their homes and floated away. "HA", I thought, "Maybe this is the Earth's way of ridding itself of more than COVID-19, earthquakes, hurricanes and Tsunamis could, all in one fell swoop!" But, where had everything and everyone gone? Would it all come crashing back down, if the Earth's rotation just started back again? What a mess that would be!!

The Fortress
"Move, bitches! Or we will shoot," is all the guards kept repeating, again. It was starting to get old. We moved out of the implantation room and went through a small dark corridor. We walked for a few minutes, and we eventually reached a service counter area, where we were told each to pick up one of those bedding kits that were handed over to us.

Astro Cab
"I hate space!" I thought that to myself at least once a day during my days as an Astro-Cab driver. Sure, the idea of driving through the galaxy, meeting new people, and seeing all kinds of celestial wonders sounded like fun on paper, but that's only for those who get to drive in the better parts of the Milky Way. Me, I was stuck in the Tenderloin—the armpit of the universe. After a few years, I learned one thing: this galaxy is full of crazies!

Riley Adams Tries Dying
It was a quiet day in H City and Riley Adams was taking full advantage of it. As the lone paranormal investigator in a city with every sort of paranormal problem imaginable (and then some) she didn’t get much down time. When she did she made sure to enjoy it because, Riley knew from years of experience, it was always the calm before the inevitably annoying storm. What she didn’t know was that this time, the storm was personal.

The Fortress
"Move, bitches! Or we will shoot," is all the guards kept repeating while waiving their rifles at us. We, the orange suits, were moving out of the room very slowly, with the assistance of the black suits. The blue suits, however, were standing on the sidelines. I noticed the blue suits wore a red cross on their shoulders. Maybe they were part of the medical staff. I had no idea what the black suits were for.

City of Light
If you are living in a dark world where you witness death daily. A sphere full of pain, anger, hate, and regret. Then you probably would like the concept City of Light. A site where all your pain is released. A unique place where death unleashes the mind and pain means nothing. Something out of this cosmos, nobody knows where it exists exactly, but they radically believe that it does. This is how City of light is represented in the American post-apocalyptic science fiction drama television series, The 100.
