Flight from Kuat
Sabrond had lost track of the battle by the time the “Imperial” reinforcements arrived behind her task force; whatever those rectangular blocks with engines were, they certainly weren’t ships. And while Commander Martins might’ve bragged on and on about their firepower, they already had all the firepower they could possibly need aboard the Derriphan. What they really needed were support ships, and carriers to reinforce fighter screens. The defenses of the Invoker had fallen, and the last she’d heard from Captain Ixeh was the stubborn order that they would never abandon ship, never surrender. Then a series of transmissions between Commander Martins and an unknown Vigilante commander had begun, with Martins seemingly trying to negotiate an armistice. As if that could work. The Vigilantes were trapped, and they knew it; the shipyards blocked them in front, not to mention the massive anti-capital emplacements on the orbital ring itself that shredded any Vigilante ships that entered range, while the Imperial fleet encircled them from the back and front. And so the Vigilantes fought, struck out like a trapped animal with nowhere to go, and they were winning. Several of the pathetic Imperial defenders’ ships had already fallen under Vigilante control or influence; those fools were ready to negotiate their lives and safety for their ships.

The Guardian Hives
The Guardian Hives began to stir. They were situated at the edges of the thick, humid forest. The Hives protected the inhabitants of the Planet of Flowers from any intruders, as well as supplying them with food. The wasps pollinated the trees that brought them fruit and nuts. The honey was used for food, as well as soothing wounds. The Hives were attached to the oldest trees on the planet. The Hives had grown along with the trees, so the stories told.

The Fortress
B17. This was home. Yet, I had no idea where I was going. The guards moved out of the freight elevator first and then ordered us to follow them. There were no threats of shooting us, this time. Everyone looked tired from the ride down. We got off the elevator, and one of the guards spoke with another guard as they looked over details on an industrial tablet. PDAs had come a long way. While we all waited, everyone took the opportunity to look around.

The Underground
The air was crisp as it brushed my cheeks, you could tell summer was coming to an end when my leather jacket stopped being enough to keep me warm on my late night escapades. The city of lights was fairly quiet for a friday night, I looked around to make sure the coast was clear before hurrying down the dark alley that lay in front of me. My helmet tucked under my arm I shuffled pulling my gloves off and shoving them in my back pocket.

The Old Gods claim a new Disciple
Lila stretched luxuriously on the soft bed she splayed out on, looking out the window as the horizon brightened with the approach of the rising sun. The cottage her family was staying at was gorgeous, expensive, and quite comfortable. She was so glad her parents stayed here on this “dream vacation” to Arilon. Her college graduation was fast approaching, and not long after that, she would marry her future husband. Her father was quite put out with the fact she was rushing into marriage so soon after reaching her majority, but Justin was one of those rare boys that already displayed the man he would become. Even at her young age, she knew he was the man she wanted. She had plans for her life, and she wanted him to be in it. Her father slowly came around to the idea, or at least made peace with it. However, he had always wanted to visit exotic Arilon once in his life, and he insisted they go as a family before she began the next chapter of her life.

The black cloud(preview)
A faint beeping, getting louder, louder… louder… It sounds like something he’s heard before. He can’t remember what. Never mind that, he needs to figure out where he is. Where is he? Not fully awake yet, He could use just a little more sleep, a little more sleep never hurt anyone, right? NO! He thinks, quickly sitting up. More beeping, constant beeping, getting faster, faster… It’s so humid. He thinks, looking around, where the hell am I?! He hears footsteps in the hall next to his room, echoing off the walls. He remembers hearing this sound before… he can’t recall when or where he remembers this from, but he’s heard this sound before. The footsteps are getting closer. The door opens, a woman walks in. He realizes where he is. It’s a hospital or some sort of medical room, the beeping gets faster, he knows where the beeping is coming from, it’s a monitor, he can’t think of the name, the one that watches your heart rate. What is he doing in a hospital? He thinks about it, he can’t remember doing anything to get hurt, and now that he thinks about it, he doesn’t remember anything at all. He’s pretending to sleep, an attempt to gather more information, the woman seems to be checking on him, after a couple of minutes she leaves. He sits up and opens his eyes again, the room is dimly lit, eerie, it appears to be nighttime, the clock on the wall In front of him confirms this thought. The sound of knocking fills the room. He checks the door, opening it only enough for him to see. No one is there. The knocking sounds again, this time, he realizes that it’s coming from the window, he waits, nothing but silence. Right when he thinks it won’t happen again it gets even louder than the last one, it sounds like the window would break if it was any louder, he rushes to the window, draws the curtains, and finds himself two or so inches away from a masked face, he’s startled, it’s too dark to tell anything about them. The window is the only thing keeping them from nearly touching. He opens it, but only a crack, enough to hear what it is they want. The moment the window opens in the slightest bit he feels a rush of wind, it’s strange, it feels like a shadow just went through him. The figure has vanished. He looks out the window for about a minute longer, looking for this masked figure. They are nowhere to be found. He closes the window and curtains, that was weird, he thinks. He turns around to start walking back to his bed, and he stumbles, the masked figure is standing in front of him, again, they are face to face, about the same distance as before, this time, there is no window. The heart rate monitor beeps faster, increasing in speed. The masked figure is silent, still. Too still.

Evolution
I’m going to die today. But don’t get all teary eyed and weep for me. I don’t need your sympathy. It’s my choice to finally do what nature wants to be done. I’ve lived far longer than any human woman should. And, while Niall would rather I stayed, it’s time for me to go.
