Captain's Log
Note from the author: This piece takes place in a universe where Pan American survived past its closure date, and well into the future. Global warming, and most other issues, have also been solved at this point, but are not important within the story's context. It should also be noted that this was originally a university assessment piece I submitted earlier this year, but has since been edited to create a slightly more believable story.

Lost in Time - The Forgotten Sands
My lips cracked, and the wind cut through me, biting into the exposed skin. The arid air filled my lungs with dust, and I opened my eyes to shield them from the harsh sunlight. The howling of the wind broke the silence only. It tore through me, leaving paper-cut-like scars on my exposed skin. I stood up slowly. My body ached, my scorched skin stiffened against the sudden motion. How did I get here?

Crown
In his right hand, cupped in his palm was a small copper bowl filled with fragrant burning incense. As he walked toward the alter the smoke rose and danced in the air creating a screen across his tattooed face. His steps were patient and rhythmic, the hem of his red satin robe trailed behind across the mosaic floor.

Where Am I?
Where AM I? So I've decided to compile these collections so that there's proof of what I've been experiencing should anything happen to me; maybe for my kids to find, or for me to give to them, one day (hopefully give). Maybe if they're like me this will help answer some questions. I hope. Ok, here I go..

The Ones Who Remember
She'd forgotten him, and in that he'd lost everything. “Get away from me!” She screamed, writhing against his athletic arms as he secured her ties to a seat. He had to move quickly if this was going to work. As he tightened the last knot her eyes twitched between his face and the iodine sky. Three days ago she at least remembered his face, but now? He was lucky if she noticed he was breathing.

Heaven Comes to Earth
Life is expected to end as we know it. Once it came to the public, doubt flared up immediately, to be fair, this is the information age. Fake news is common, and people have predicted the end of the world for a millennia. It was leaked that a Massive Solid Object, or MSO, was on a collision course with our solar system. This piece of news was ignored by NASA officials initially, as there was no direct response to its validity. That is until the wildfire of believers began to need direct quelling by the media.

Friendly Stranger
“Im just tired of wanting more.. I guess.” Not knowing my own emotions has never been something odd for me, and I believe he knew that. He as in the only friendly smile I’ve ever known, he has in the only man I’ve ever truly trusted. Oddly enough, for such an important person with such a high impact on me, I can’t remember his name.

Deep Locke
He never quite knew why he romanticized the ocean so much. To Aaron, it had always been the place of dreams. Maybe it was the soothing sound of moving water, crashing waves providing an odd sense of peace in the chaos he called life. Maybe it was the feeling of the water against his skin, washing away the pain that drove him, replacing it with what could only be described as fruitless ambition. Or maybe it was the thought of a world so different than his own, one bigger and full of life- one that hadn’t hurt him yet- just below the surface of his own. But the reason didn’t matter anymore. Dreams didn’t matter when reality broke them apart, piece by piece.
