Spirit Of The Age - A Starfarer's Last Letter Home
A Slice Of Sci-Fi Stolen From A Hawkwind Song

Introduction
Most of the ideas for this are from the song that I have been listening to over the past day, so thanks to Hawkwind and the writers, Dave Brock and Robert Calvert.
My review of Robert Calvert's "Captain Lockheed and The Starfighters" is here if you want to sample a little of his music.
Spirit Of The Age - A Starfarer's Last Letter Home
I'm sitting on my bed mindwriting this letter to you as I still think about you all the time. I am amazed to see the words appear on the electronic paper as I think them and I am told that you will get this as soon as I put my signature on it.
I have been out of cryogenic suspension for over a week but I have been unable to put my words down.
We were eighteen when I left for this exploration project but your dad wouldn't sign the release forms to let you come with me. That still saddens me, and you will be sixty now, but I am still eighteen.
I have and an android replica of you that they gave me to keep me company, but whenever we try to make love ( is that the correct term for sex with an android) she(it?) moans another's name, sometimes it's Steve, sometimes John, sometimes William, but never my name. I feel I have been cuckolded by a robot.
It makes me so sad, I still love you.
The ship is manned by clones who continually tell me I am so lucky to be an individual, but we will soon be at our destination.
It also saddens me that by the time I return, you will either be dead or so old and fragile, and I will still be little more than twenty.
We are going to be spending a year exploring this star system, but after I send this, I will not be able to have any contact with home until I return.
This is my final letter to you.
I am so sad that we could not do this together, but that's the spirit of the age.
I will always love you.
Goodbye my love

How sad this was. Saying good-bye is hard no matter how it is said.
Very sad, but you have explained in detail the complexity of the continuation of love. But still saying goodbye is always sad.
Nicely done!
Your words highlight the complexities of the continuity of love ❤️. You have effectively presented the enduring nature of love and its changes over time ⏳. Do you think that modern technology 📱 has impacted real relationships?
Sad future consequences, well done Mike!
"moans another's name, sometimes it's Steve, sometimes John, sometimes William, but never my name. I feel I have been cuckolded by a robot." Hahahahahahhahahahahaha I laughed sooo much for that! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
