Hi. Oh my gosh, I thought I knew that voice. How are you guys doing?

Not too bad, keeping busy, you know. Boy, I haven't seen you in ages, what have you guys been up to?

No kidding, who isn't busy these days? We were just saying we needed to get out and unwind one of these nights.

That would be nice, it seems I'm becoming such a homebody lately. I'm finding it much easier to throw on the sweats, jump on the couch and binge something. I'd love to get together one of these days...

Hey, yeah... as a matter of fact, we were just planning on getting together for dinner sometime this weekend, maybe if you're free, you could come.

Ohhh, yeah, that sounds great. I can't tell you the last time I got the chance to go out. What time and where are you thinking?

Yay, it's officially the weekend! Thought I'd check back. I am just hanging out at home, let me know what you all decide on, anything works for me. I look forward to catching up, don't have any plans at all. See ya soon.

That's not true, don't be so negative. When she gets a chance, she'll call. I'm sure she just got busy with things.

** You're so pathetic. When was the last time they called you intentionally? YEARS! It was a pity invite and you made it worse by calling and checking in. I'm sure they're getting a good laugh at your expense. You really should just listen to me...you are not meant to have friends.

I have friends! It's just that they are all married and do things together as couples. I get that, sometimes that makes me the odd man out.

Well, that door swings both ways and I haven't made the effort to reach out either. That doesn't mean I don't want to, I've just been lazy.

** Whatever you have to tell yourself. Girl, if you were honest with yourself, you'd have to admit that you don't call them, because you know that you don't fit in.
