Introduction

This is for JBaz's "So The Story Goes" Exercise which you can check here as it is the prologue to this story:

So The Story Went

Carl barely nods his head, still not saying a word. His eyes grow wide, and the pain he once felt now vanishes completely.

"Carl, you're scaring me, what is it."

"Jaylene, grab the kids, we have to leave.... now."

C: "He's here, he's come for us, he said he would, and he's got his thugs with him"

J: "Who's here, what's wrong?"

C: "My brother, he killed my mum and dad and then went mad when they left everything to me. They bailed him out at first but for him, my parents were just a bank for his drugs and guns"

J: "I didn't know you had a brother, we've been married ten years, why did you never tell me? You said you were an orphan"

C: "He was always an evil git, even at school, he drove my parents into early graves, and when I got the money he said he would come for me and anyone who mattered to me and would either take or destroy everything I had, now get the kids in the car"

J: "But he's going to keep coming after you, and us, and what if he kills you? Who will protect us?"

C: "You get the kids away, now, go to your moms, tell your parents what has happened I will stay here and catch up with you when I have dealt with him"

J: "What are you going to do?"

C: "It's best that you don't know"

Jaylene started the car and set off down the drive when she heard many gunshots. Then the car's engine stopped, she tried to restart it but it was dead.

The children were crying and she didn't know whether Carl had survived or whether she and the children were next.

It was very quiet.
