Sacred
An Example Piece For The September Autumn Comes Challenge

Introduction
This is inspired by the picture by Angie Livingstone. You can see more of her amazing work here:
The music is "A Sense Of Wonder" by Van Morrison.
This is an example story for my challenge here:
Sacred
Here we stand in this sacred place of ancient stones and trees. Rabbits and other creatures sit in wonder at the standing stone as an owl flies through the night.
On the hill are the sarsen stones that make another magic circle.
Today is the day of the Autumnal Equinox.
The more despondent ones point out that the days now get shorter and shorter, and the weather gets colder and the world plunges towards another darkness.
But we are here as the sun goes down we know that the leaves will turn brown and gold and give us a world of beautiful colours. Crops will be harvested to provide food for us and for the animals, this will be a time of plenty for all.
The nights will be longer and we will spend them around campfires in these sacred places, telling tales of legends, past and to come, and sharing food and drink with friends old and new.
Summer has left us and Autumn is a golden time that will take us to the Winter Solstice and thence to the Spring rebirth.
The Autumn Equinox is a time to appreciate the beauty we have seen and the beauty that is to come.
We are here under the stars and moon by this sacred standing stone, feeling and taking in the spiritual energy of Gaia the earth goddess who is always there for us.
We sink into a sense of wonder, appreciating all that nature has shown us and will show us.
This brings us all so much joy and happiness and we look forward to whatever will come next.
Gaia provides and we will accept, bathing in starlight and drenched in moonlight.
The Autumnal Equinox is a beautiful stopping point on our journey through life.
