Pitching A Fit
Nothing But Voices Challenge
āThanks for holding the door, Sheryl.ā
No worries, Rachie. Itās wonderful to have you back with us again.
āItās been a while, but Iām finally back on track.ā
Well, youāre off to a great start⦠just in time for a quick warm up on the bike.
āHey, everyone⦠Iām back!ā
How many weeks are you going to last this time? Two?
āHow cheeky! Iāll have you know, I come along every week⦠until I donāt, for a week, or a month, or a year, or two!ā
Yeah⦠sure, Iāll believe it when I see it!
Mark! Thatās a bit rude, isnāt it? Itās great to have her back!
āItās okay. Some would say heās right⦠heās not, but theyād still say it.This time, Iām back to stay.ā
Weāve heard that before! Same old, same old.
Hey, Tegan⦠perfect timing, weāve done five minutes warm up. You can rescue us from squabbling with Mark!
Rachie, lovely to see you today⦠itās been a while.
āThanks, Tegan. Iāve missed coming along. Iāve missed you all⦠well, everyone, except Mark!ā
Nice!
How have you been going? Any injuries? Iāll be nice and go easy on you today⦠just do ten of each, with the usual three rounds.
āThatās exactly what I hoped youād say! For once, Iām not going to insist on doing 12 or 15 each. Iām going to prove Mark wrong and come every week, this year!ā
Hah! Not likely!
Mark! Thatās not nice!
Youāre right! But itās still true!
So, Iāll start you off over here with 10kg Chest Presses, 3kg Curls and 6kg Sit to Stands.
āOkay! Sounds good. So, how have you been?ā
Iām fine, thanks. Just remember to keep your elbows close to your side, and extend your arms fully.
āI think thatās ten⦠I lost count, while I was chatting.ā
Excuse me Tegan⦠which ones am I doing now?
Iāve got you set up over here with these three exercises from last weekā¦
Rachie, try not to bounce on the fit ball.
āBut itās fun bouncing!ā
When youāve done your three rotations, you can hop on the Xtrainer for a minute.
āOh! Thatās the best part! Well, that and the company, excluding Mark, when heās not being nice⦠which is most of the time!ā
So, youāre finished that set? Good. Next, you have RDLs with a kettlebellā¦
āWhat are they, again?ā
Romanian Deadlifts⦠like thisā¦
āThatās right, I remember...ā
Boy, Iām surprised you remember them from last year!
Mark!
Then, Rachie you have Single Arm Rows and Pull Apartsā¦
āThey sound yummy⦠like the buns?ā
Not quite, but Iām sure youāll like them.
āUgh! This is impossible! What weight is this?ā
Itās what you usually do. I can make it lighter if you wantā¦
āNo, leave it⦠if youāre sure Iāve done it before.ā
Yes, youāve definitely had this weight before. Now, donāt forget to straighten that backā¦
āI thought it was already straight! It feels like the Sydney Harbour Bridge now!ā
No, it definitely wasnāt straight beforeā¦
āDid it look like a sway back mule?ā
Something like that!
āThere! Is this better?ā
Much betterā¦
Remember to maintain control, slowly pull those arms apart; squeeze your shoulder blades together.
āOh, thatās much harder! Iāll be glad to get back on the Xtrainer. By the way, whatās happened with the music? We usually have lively 80s and 90s Rock music pumping⦠Iāve never even heard any of these songs before.ā
Itās something Mark put on. Sorry, but I donāt have time to change it now.
āMake sure you donāt let him choose the playlist next week! Now, for my final roundā¦ā
Youāre doing well. Iāve gone a bit easier on you this roundā¦
Youāve just got: 30 second, Single Leg Stands on the foam pad; the Press & Forward Step Downs.
āOh, I was thinking I had to do ten of the balance ones each round! I was just doing the maths in my head ā which is always risky ā Iād be here for ages doing 30 of them for 30 seconds!ā
No⦠I wouldnāt be so mean, youād be here all day!
āWow! I hate to admit it, but this is way too easy⦠youād better make it a bit harder.ā
Itās just that after you complained so much last round, I thought Iād be a bit kind.
āSorry, I was such a whinger! Oops! Whatās my last exercise again? Iāve forgotten.ā
See you later, everyone⦠Iām finished. See you next week, Rachie! Good to have you back again.
āThanks, Sheryl. Yes, Iāll be back, if only to prove Mark wrong.ā
Youāre all done now, Rachie⦠just a minuteās cool down on the Xtrainer. Great job!
āThanks Tegan⦠I definitely got my moneyās worth today. The sweatās dripping off my forehead, to prove it.ā
Have a good week. See you next week.
āYes, this is my year to get fit, not pitch one! See you next week Mark!ā
Maybe.

My muscles are sore from just reading and I broke out in a sweat! lol Do people really swing those balls? My toes are trying to hide just thinking that thing might drop. Great take on the challenge :)
Great conversations for the prompt and so appropriate for the New Year. Lots of us have New Year's resolutions to get into shape!šš
This was great, Angie! I loved your solution for more than two voices with the quotes feature.
Great take on the challenge, Angie, I wish you all the best. I would drop the kettlebell on Mark's foot, "Sorry, I didn't see you there. Can you walk?" šš
Ah, those resolutions to get fit! Made me chuckle!
Mark isn't very nice. But I wonder what songs he put on. If we have the same taste in music, then perhaps he and I could be friends. Because I'm not into old songs like the 80s and 90s
So, I'm the bad guy, huh? I enjoyed the banter even if it made me look bad.
