ā€œThanks for holding the door, Sheryl.ā€

No worries, Rachie. It’s wonderful to have you back with us again.

ā€œIt’s been a while, but I’m finally back on track.ā€

Well, you’re off to a great start… just in time for a quick warm up on the bike.

ā€œHey, everyone… I’m back!ā€

How many weeks are you going to last this time? Two?

ā€œHow cheeky! I’ll have you know, I come along every week… until I don’t, for a week, or a month, or a year, or two!ā€

Yeah… sure, I’ll believe it when I see it!

Mark! That’s a bit rude, isn’t it? It’s great to have her back!

ā€œIt’s okay. Some would say he’s right… he’s not, but they’d still say it.This time, I’m back to stay.ā€

We’ve heard that before! Same old, same old.

Hey, Tegan… perfect timing, we’ve done five minutes warm up. You can rescue us from squabbling with Mark!

Rachie, lovely to see you today… it’s been a while.

ā€œThanks, Tegan. I’ve missed coming along. I’ve missed you all… well, everyone, except Mark!ā€

Nice!

How have you been going? Any injuries? I’ll be nice and go easy on you today… just do ten of each, with the usual three rounds.

ā€œThat’s exactly what I hoped you’d say! For once, I’m not going to insist on doing 12 or 15 each. I’m going to prove Mark wrong and come every week, this year!ā€

Hah! Not likely!

Mark! That’s not nice!

You’re right! But it’s still true!

So, I’ll start you off over here with 10kg Chest Presses, 3kg Curls and 6kg Sit to Stands.

ā€œOkay! Sounds good. So, how have you been?ā€

I’m fine, thanks. Just remember to keep your elbows close to your side, and extend your arms fully.

ā€œI think that’s ten… I lost count, while I was chatting.ā€

Excuse me Tegan… which ones am I doing now?

I’ve got you set up over here with these three exercises from last week…

Rachie, try not to bounce on the fit ball.

ā€œBut it’s fun bouncing!ā€

When you’ve done your three rotations, you can hop on the Xtrainer for a minute.

ā€œOh! That’s the best part! Well, that and the company, excluding Mark, when he’s not being nice… which is most of the time!ā€

So, you’re finished that set? Good. Next, you have RDLs with a kettlebell…

ā€œWhat are they, again?ā€

Romanian Deadlifts… like this…

ā€œThat’s right, I remember...ā€

Boy, I’m surprised you remember them from last year!

Mark!

Then, Rachie you have Single Arm Rows and Pull Aparts…

ā€œThey sound yummy… like the buns?ā€

Not quite, but I’m sure you’ll like them.

ā€œUgh! This is impossible! What weight is this?ā€

It’s what you usually do. I can make it lighter if you want…

ā€œNo, leave it… if you’re sure I’ve done it before.ā€

Yes, you’ve definitely had this weight before. Now, don’t forget to straighten that back…

ā€œI thought it was already straight! It feels like the Sydney Harbour Bridge now!ā€

No, it definitely wasn’t straight before…

ā€œDid it look like a sway back mule?ā€

Something like that!

ā€œThere! Is this better?ā€

Much better…

Remember to maintain control, slowly pull those arms apart; squeeze your shoulder blades together.

ā€œOh, that’s much harder! I’ll be glad to get back on the Xtrainer. By the way, what’s happened with the music? We usually have lively 80s and 90s Rock music pumping… I’ve never even heard any of these songs before.ā€

It’s something Mark put on. Sorry, but I don’t have time to change it now.

ā€œMake sure you don’t let him choose the playlist next week! Now, for my final roundā€¦ā€

You’re doing well. I’ve gone a bit easier on you this round…

You’ve just got: 30 second, Single Leg Stands on the foam pad; the Press & Forward Step Downs.

ā€œOh, I was thinking I had to do ten of the balance ones each round! I was just doing the maths in my head — which is always risky — I’d be here for ages doing 30 of them for 30 seconds!ā€

No… I wouldn’t be so mean, you’d be here all day!

ā€œWow! I hate to admit it, but this is way too easy… you’d better make it a bit harder.ā€

It’s just that after you complained so much last round, I thought I’d be a bit kind.

ā€œSorry, I was such a whinger! Oops! What’s my last exercise again? I’ve forgotten.ā€

See you later, everyone… I’m finished. See you next week, Rachie! Good to have you back again.

ā€œThanks, Sheryl. Yes, I’ll be back, if only to prove Mark wrong.ā€

You’re all done now, Rachie… just a minute’s cool down on the Xtrainer. Great job!

ā€œThanks Tegan… I definitely got my money’s worth today. The sweat’s dripping off my forehead, to prove it.ā€

Have a good week. See you next week.

ā€œYes, this is my year to get fit, not pitch one! See you next week Mark!ā€

Maybe.

My muscles are sore from just reading and I broke out in a sweat! lol Do people really swing those balls? My toes are trying to hide just thinking that thing might drop. Great take on the challenge :)

  • Great conversations for the prompt and so appropriate for the New Year. Lots of us have New Year's resolutions to get into shape!šŸ’•šŸ’—

This was great, Angie! I loved your solution for more than two voices with the quotes feature.

Great take on the challenge, Angie, I wish you all the best. I would drop the kettlebell on Mark's foot, "Sorry, I didn't see you there. Can you walk?" šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‰

  • Rachel Deeming15 days ago

Ah, those resolutions to get fit! Made me chuckle!

  • Mark isn't very nice. But I wonder what songs he put on. If we have the same taste in music, then perhaps he and I could be friends. Because I'm not into old songs like the 80s and 90s

So, I'm the bad guy, huh? I enjoyed the banter even if it made me look bad.
