Ways to Use Honey
Honey is not just for eating.
Honey should be a staple in every household. However, don't limit it to just your kitchen. It is versatile and can be used in many different ways throughout the house. It is classified as a food, but it is not just for eating.
Honey is a natural sweetener with great health benefits. It is good for cooking, eating, as a home remedy, and as a beauty aid.
There are many good things about honey, but what makes honey stand above other foods is that you can use it and still enjoy the health benefits of it long after the expiration date.
Honey Is Good to Eat

Because honey is pure sugar, people might think it is not healthy. However, one tablespoon (20 grams) of honey contains only 61 calories, zero grams of fat, zero grams of protein, and 17 grams of carbs.
Honey can be used in baking to sweeten desserts. As the photo above shows, honey can be used as a spread on bread. It can be used to spruce up plain yogurt and as a substitute for sugar in many recipes. People can also use honey in tea and other beverages.
Rich in Antioxidants
Honey contains a number of antioxidants, including flavonoids and phenolic acids, which are good for a healthy body. Dark honey is much better because it has more antioxidants than lighter honey.
Good for the Heart
Honey improves heart health and may also help prevent heart disease. It may help lower blood pressure, improve blood fat levels, and regulate heartbeats.
Better Blood Sugar Levels in Diabetics
Diabetics find it better to use honey than regular sugar because it may offer some benefits that regular sugar doesn't have. While honey may raise blood sugar levels just as regular sugar does, the antioxidants in honey help a lot. Even so, honey is sugar and should be consumed in moderation.
Medicinal Uses for Honey
Honey can be used for remedies and healing properties. The Egyptians used honey as an antiseptic to prevent body decay. During World War I, soldiers mixed honey with cod liver oil to treat open sores. Today, honey is still used as an anti-inflammatory. It speeds up the healing of infections, cuts, and scrapes. Scientists agree that the protein in honey has antibacterial properties.
Topical honey treatment has been used to heal wounds and burns. When applied to the skin, honey can be part of an effective treatment plan for burns, wounds, and many other skin conditions. Honey can be applied directly to minor burns or wounds.
Honey is good for suppressing coughs. Coughing is a common problem for children with upper respiratory infections. These infections can affect sleep and quality of life for children and adults.
Beauty Uses for Honey
Raw honey can be used as a mask to help moisturize and purify your skin. All you have to do is gently massage honey into your skin and rinse. You can also add honey to baking soda and water.
Mix egg whites, honey, and a moisturizer to exfoliate, tighten, and plump up your skin. Use honey to treat other conditions, including psoriasis and herpes lesions. Also, use honey to remove blackheads.
