Subway is one of the most successful and recognizable sandwich chains in the United States. With over 20,000 locations in the United States alone, it's pretty safe to say that almost everyone on the planet has at least heard of or been inside of a Subway sandwich shop. But did you know that Subway exists in 100 countries and that each country has their own unique menu items?

While you might just be accustomed to American sandwich offerings, including those famous (and now extinct $5 footlongs), international locations have a lot more to offer with their menus. So, let's go around the world and see what Subway menu items exist!

While international locations offer menu items that Americans are more used to, this item offered in Oceana is a hit. The Habanero Chili Wrap is almost like a sushi roll inside of a warm tortilla with creamy tuna, spinach, mozzarella cheese, bell pepper, tomato, onion, and a spicy habanero hot sauce.

Pepperoni Pizza Toastie

While it's not uncommon to find meatball subs in the United States, locations in Ireland took a snack-sized sandwich and made it into pizza. With the Pepperoni Pizza Toastie, you can enjoy marinara sauce with pepperoni and melted Monterey Jack cheese.

Corn and Peas Veggie Sandwich

While this might confuse a lot of people, it's important to remember that India contains a lot of vegetarians. To accommodate the amount of vegetarians in the country, Subway has a rather extensive plant-based menu. With the Corn and Peas sandwich, you can enjoy a mix of green peans, corn, and crunchy carrot mixed with an eggless mayonnaise.

Another popular sandwich in India is the Aloo Patty Sandwich, which is a seasoned potato patty instead of meat.

Not to be confused with tartare, this Japanese sandwich is a veggie filled delight with thin slices of chicken. And yes, it does have a "tartar" sauce complete with onions, peppers, and corn.

Not many Subway locations offer pork products aside from bacon and deli ham, so Mexican locations are a great opportunity to try spicy Pierna ham. This hind leg ham is served with Mexican-style cream and a hot habanera sauce.

Carrying on with the pork theme, Mexico also offers a BBQ Rib Melt which is somewhat similar to a McDonald's McRib sandwich. It is a BBQ shortib pork patty with BBQ sauce and melted cheese.
