Unique Potato Chip Flavors From Around The World
The United States has a wide variety of chip flavors, but what flavors are circulating worldwide?

Potato chips are easily one of the most popular and recognizable snacks in the United States. With American national brands such as Frito-Lay, Utz of Hanover, Pringles, Kettle Brand, Zapp's and more, it's hard to find someone who doesn't enjoy a good potato chip. But have you ever wondered what flavors and varieties exist around the world?
While you might just be accustomed to American chip offerings like plain salted, barbecue, sour cream & onion, and flamin' hot, there are some... well, interesting flavors circulating around in international markets. Let's take a look at what varieties of potato chips exist worldwide!
Lay's Mint Mischief

Where do I find it? India
While you might assume a mint flavored chip would be weird, this flavor is also infused with jalapeno and lime - giving it a deeper depth of flavor. Seeing how Indian cuisine is typically vegetarian, it's not surprising to find meatless plays on flavor including magic masala, macho chili, tangy chili twist, and Spanish tomato tango.
Lay's Blueberry, Kiwi, and Cucumber Potato Chips

Where do I find it? China
Lay's chips exist outside of the United States, and there are some really strange flavors - including blueberry, kiwi, and cucumber. If you're unsure about fruit flavored chips, you can also find flavors including hot & sour fish soup, fried crab, roasted garlic oyster, spicy crayfish, cumin lamb skewer,
Walker's German Bratwurst Sausage

Where do I find it? United Kingdom
Similar to Frito-Lay, Walker's is a popular British snack brand that was actually acquired by Frito-Lay in the 90s. With that said, you can enjoy German bratwurst flavored chips if you're ever in the UK along with other Walker's flavors such as cheese toaster, roast chicken, American cheeseburger, sausage & brown sauce, Heinz baked beans sausage sarnie.
Chipsfrisch Currywurst

Where do I find it? Germany
If you want to go farther into Europe, you can find these currywurst flavored chips in Germany. Made by German snack brand, Chipsfrisch, this flavor is inspired by Indian-style spices. Traditional currywurst is typically served with French fries, so I guess this makes sense.
Lay's Red Caviar

Where do I find it? Russia
While caviar definitely isn't for everyone, you could soft-launch the flavor with these Russian chips. If nothing else, it could make you feel a bit more fancy.
Simba Chutney

Where do I find it? South Africa
South African snack brand, Simba, introduced a rather interesting flavor chip with chutney. This condiment is typically associated with Indian cuisine and can have a wide variety of flavors, so who really knows what this chip tastes like.
Bohemia Mushroom

Where do I find it? Czech Republic
Czech snack brand, Bohemia, has introduced more wild flavors than mushroom. If you want something else aside from fungus-flavored chips, Bohemia also offers prosciutto, paprika, and pizza flavors.
Crunchips Kebab & Onion

Where do I find it? Poland
This flavor offering comes from German snack brand, Lorenz Snack-World, and gives you the chance to try a kebab in a potato chip. Based on the image on the bag, I'd assume this is a nod to the Turkish-inspired döner kebab, which is very popular in Germany. In fact, these kebabs are also pretty popular in Poland, specifically in Warsaw.
Smith's Vegemite

Where do I find it? Australia
British-Australian snack brand, Smith's, has a chip flavor that is definitely a love-hate flavor, depending on the person. Vegemite is a dark brown, fermented yeast spread and it lends its flavor to ruffled chips. As an American who has tried Vegemite... I will most definitely pass.
If you are in the UK, you can find a version flavored with Vegemite's sister product, Marmite.
Nongshim Seafood Flavored Tako Chips

Where do I find it? South Korea
Korean snacks are known for their fun, playful flavors and interesting shapes. These chips by Nongshim feature Tako (aka, octopus-shaped) ruffles with seafood & octopus flavors. According to those who have tried them, they truly taste like fish.
If you want to stick with more a American-known brand while in South Korea, Lay's offers flavors such as fried crab, spicy crawfish, roasted fish, Texas grilled beef, and pickled fish.
Real's Roast Ox

Where do I find it? United Kingdom
British snack brand, Real's, offers some really interesting flavors of "crisps." These hand-crafted chips come in other varieties including chicken peri-peri, strong cheese & onion, ham & mustard, and sweet chili. As far as roast ox goes... I imagine it's close to barbecue?
Lay's Bacon Cheese with Seaweed

Where do I find it? Thailand
Lay's Thailand has quite a few flavor choices, but most Americans wouldn't turn an eye at bacon and cheese. Mixing it with seaweed is a bit more questionable, but it's more desirable than other Thai flavors including salmon pizza, fried squid egg, scallop with cream sauce, spicy lobster, hot chili squid, and mayonnaise.
Chio Cheeseburger

Where do I find it? Germany
German snack brand, Intersnack, offers a curious flavor with cheeseburger. Seeing how the hamburger is named after the German city of Hamburg, it's not surprising that their snack brands, including Internack's subsidy Chio, are celebrating the flavor. I just wonder how in depth the flavor is. Are we talking just meat and cheese, or are there pickles and tomatoes thrown into the flavor?
Mackie's Whisky & Haggis

Where do I find it? Scotland
Staying true to their signature dish, Mackie's of Scotland offers a... whisky and haggis flavored chip. And yes, haggis is that dish where you eat sheep's pluck boiled in the animal's stomach.
Dorito's Hokkaido Camembert Cheese

Where do I find it? Japan
Japanese Doritos offer some fancier chips, including these French-inspired Camembert cheese flavored chips. If you want some less fancy-feeling Japanese Doritos you can opt for flavors such as avocado & cheese, grilled tacos, jalapeno, smoked cheese, and wasabi & steak.
Ketchup Chips

Where do I find it? Canada
If you have ever seen Canadian television or movies, you have no doubt heard of ketchup chips. Made in a variety of brands, these chips are easily one of the most popular snacks in the country. Similar to some American chip offerings, prepare for your fingers to be bright red when you're done.
Other popular Canadian chip flavors include all-dressed, lobster, donair (aka, döner), hickory sticks, sour cream & bacon, poutine, dill pickle, cinnamon bun (aka, brioche a la cannelle), and Montreal smoked meat.
