My Review of "MasterChef Canada: Back to Win"
MasterChef Canada: Back to Win is the 7th season of the popular MasterChef Canada series. It's been a while since I've seen this show and it has to be the one reality competition series I can't wait to watch on TV. Season 6 finished up in the spring of 2019 and then the pandemic hit.

My Guilty Pleasure? Nailed It!. Second Place in Guilty Pleasure Binge Challenge.
If anyone were to ask me what I like to do in my spare time, I would probably respond with reading novels or watching documentaries. You know, something seemingly sophisticated. And although this is not entirely false, it does omit the fact that when I really just want to relax and turn my brain off, I turn on an episode of Nailed It!

Guilty Pleasure: Hell's Kitchen
2020 was a year that delivered a gift of seemingly infinite time to kill and nothing to do. We were all staying home finding that family time that was otherwise limited to a few blissful gatherings or fleeting moments now became the everyday. We started eating together; not quick stops to a communal table, each of us scattering after the plate was swiftly cleared, but long and quite honestly, lovely meal times that had no expiry. With all this newfound time comes restlessness, and this is where the guilty pleasures start to come into play.

You watched 6 hours of what?!
It all starts with a slight sore throat. Called boss, check. Husband aware, check. Hubby having done his best to tiptoe around, so as to wake poor, sick me, has departed for work. A couple extra Z's, but now I can't go back to sleep. I feel better, maybe I shouldn't have called in. No, "it's okay", I reassure myself that while I have things at work to do perhaps I can accomplish some light organizing.

My Review of "MasterChef Canada: Season 6"
MasterChef Canada: Season 6 had some pretty big shoes to fill. Season 5 seemed like the levels of the home cooks was coming back up again. I was a little disappointed with season 4 and season 5 kind of got my hopes back up. It was a bit of a surprise that they'd have such a child prodigy come into the MasterChef kitchen and clean out the competition.

Watch and Learn
Here's the thing, my whole world evolves around food, so even when talking about television it'll still be in relation to food. There are three shows about this subject that I want to call attention to, because not only are they entertaining, but I think they would be beneficial for anyone to watch; not just people who want to learn new recipes. These programs were essential for me on my journey to loving food and also helped develop a deeper respect for the culture and the people behind the worlds cuisines. There is this wealth of information that can literally improve your quality of life on a real and philosophical level. When we eat well, we feel better, and by that I am not advocating for anyone to follow any sort of diet; in fact quite the opposite. What I mean by eating well is food that makes you want to close your eyes and ears, because you don't want anything at all to interrupt your experience. These three shows, I think, are wonderful foundations for building knowledge of a gloriously prepared meal. They are also an invitation to alter what one believes about another person's culture, and to develop respect, rather than fear or hatred of those who are different from us.

My Review of "MasterChef Canada: Season 5"
MasterChef Canada: Season 5 was a little worrisome for me because I was worried that the contestants were starting to get a little lackluster. Although season 4's contestants picked up their cooking game closer to the end I thought it was probably a weaker season. I wasn't sure how this season would fare. Also the show runners would obviously have to keep the show fresh by bringing up new ideas.
