Camp Food
Going on camp in the school holidays was always exciting, making new friends, taking on new responsibilities, and the best was exploring the kitchen when it was your turn to cook for the whole camp. Under supervision of course. It was so exciting playing with gadgets never before seen. My favourite was the toaster where you can toast rows and rows of bread at once. All you had to do was lay the bread down flat in single rows of four and the the machine would slide the bread through the heated grills and out they would pop on the other side ready for stacking, then to be served.

I love love love a delicious bowl of homemade macaroni salad. Thinking about all the tasteful ingredients and seasonings of vibrant flavor is what makes it more special instead of the regular plain store bought macaroni salad.

“I like brownies”
Introduction: The One legend about the creation of brownies is that of Bertha Palmer, a prominent Chicago socialite whose husband owned the Palmer House Hotel. In 1893, Palmer asked a pastry chef for a dessert suitable for ladies attending the Chicago World's Columbian Exposition. She requested a cake-like confection smaller than a piece of cake that could be included in boxed lunches. The result was the Palmer House Brownie with walnuts and an apricot glaze. The modern Palmer House Hotel serves a dessert to patrons made from the same recipe. The name was given to the dessert sometime after 1893, later used by cookbooks and journals.

Pasta Salad
Everyone has different go-to recipe for different times of the year. Lately, I have been on a pasta salad kick. When I was a kid, we always had family get togethers, carnes asadas, (barbeques) and everyone brought dishes. I had one aunt who made the best pasta salad. I have never been much of a meat eater so at carnes asadas, I would always go for her pasta salad.

A tale Of Jams And Bread
In the scorching summer heat my babcia used to send me to school with coconut oil in my hair and jams in my lunchbox. I had the thickest mop of dark russet hair in my class. Now when I'm older I'm grateful to those regimes, but nobody would sit with me in class and till fourth grade the seat beside me remained desolately empty.

An Ode to the Days of Green Ice Cream
Every summer, my grandmother would make homemade ice cream with her electric ice cream maker, and it made an awfully loud growling sound (which seemed to last a lifetime). Despite its racket, we’d sit around the contraption with childlike excitement. My brother and I would roll our eyes as my dad would tell us the same story he always did — his misadventures of hand churning ice cream when he was a kid. Apparently, it was torturous.
