My Long Shot Recipe Adventure
When I was seventeen, like many girls that age, I craved adventure and acceptance, sometimes simultaneously. In search of either or both, I made choices then, which seem foolhardy now, such as taking a day trip to New York City with $5 in my pocketbook.

The Sweetest of Memories
My family had an older lady in town that we cared for; she treated us as her family. Her name was Grandma T to us children. She had lost her only child and husband years before. She was among the most extraordinary people I have ever met. She was Scottish and born there. After her mother's death, she had come over with her father as a child. Since my blood grandparents were several states away, we generally celebrated with her on holidays. So, she had been taught the classic Scottish dishes and made plenty of them throughout the year. Nothing was more important than her recipe for shortbread straight out of Scotland.

New Hottest Pepper in the World Crowned, But at What Cost?
A new pepper has been crowned the hottest in the world, according to Guinness World Records. Pepper X, developed by Ed Currie of PuckerButt Pepper Company, measures in at an average of 2.69 million Scoville heat units (SHU). This makes it three times hotter than the previous record holder, the Carolina Reaper.

Beira's Whirlpool
Don’t follow the red will-o-wisps, they are Beira’s and will lead your boat into a whirlpool. The sign by the water told the warning of a Scottish tale. Will-o-wisps were just reflections of light floating above the water, not fairies and the queen Beira didn't create whirlpools, it just happened because of water shifting different directions. Many people in the town here in Anna Maria believed in these tales though. I never understood it. It is not like we are in Scotland, but yet here the tales all were. Probably because of their whimsy.

Grandma's Beef Stew
My grandma's beef stew is something that I feel most all of us women in the family know how to cook. Well, any one of us that has ever taken any amount of time to learn it that is. I was first given the recipe when I was just 19 years old and marrying my highschool sweetheart. My aunt had decided to do a special activity at my bridal shower where all the women wrote down recipes and any advice they may have for me as I embarked on this new journey in life. My grandma wrote down a couple of recipes that day for me that she knew I held dear to my heart that were from her kitchen but this one has always been able to make a rainy day seem bright and even a sunny day brighter. It is put together with love, care and all the aspects of a good cook. I believe every single one of us probably cook this dish a little differently, each adding our own flare to it but also somewhat sticking to the original recipe. My grandma likes to say that this dish is about emptying out your pantry and your freezer, anything that needs to be cooked can have a chance to get cooked within this dish. This dish is about family....So, without further pause you will need..
