After retiring from teaching world history for over 20 years, I am living every day on holiday: enjoying life with my family, traveling, gardening, engaging with my community in Las Vegas, and reflecting on the current state of the world.

My Vocal Goals ~ 2024
2023 was my first year on Vocal, and I truly believe that my skills as a fiction writer have significantly improved thanks to the challenges I have entered. I honestly feel that every major story I have written for Vocal has been better than the last. Plus, to my complete surprise, I have immensely enjoyed the poetry challenges.

Billionaire Elon Musk tweeted, “population collapse due to low birth rates is a much bigger risk to civilization than global warming.” Are you f*cking kidding me? This kind of thinking has promoted the banning and criminalization of abortion.

Please Stop Saying "Retarded" or Calling People a "Retard"
The words “retard” and “retarded” are almost never used in context. Instead, these terms are used to get a laugh, make an insult, or insinuate that someone or something is stupid. Unless you have a relative with a profound disability, you may never understand the pain that is connected to those terms.

Finding My Identity: An Adoptee's Search for Self.
Like most adopted individuals, since childhood I have struggled with my identity. While I loved my adopted family, I knew that I was biologically connected to other families and that I didn't share the same ethnicity as my parents. It is like a part of you is hidden or invisible. You are a mystery to yourself.

AI Will Destroy History Education
AI (Artificial Intelligence) will determine what historical knowledge is commonly available for review by all but the most dedicated researchers. Whoever controls the dominating AI programs will dictate what the public sees, learns, and ultimately believes. Only individuals with the ability to access primary documents, peer-reviewed journals, and books written by actual academics will have the tools to analyze the truth of the past.
