Magical Halloween Memories From an 80s Kid
’Tis almost the witching hour and we’re in full swing for Halloween 2022. I have seen so many awesome, clever, and adorable costumes on social media all day. That’s the most fun aspect of Halloween for me, here in my middle age years.

Beyond Her Years
Eleven-year-old Alice-May Jayne Kingston-Woods had always been an intellectually advanced, highly responsible, brilliantly polite, and extremely respectful young girl; she had been incredibly bright her whole life, even before starting her school career, she had been incredibly smart and this had only been proven more correct since starting school, she had always been the top student in her year, in all academic and creative subjects, Alice-May excelled exponentially. At every parents evening, her teachers praised Alice-May profusely, not just for her academic achievements, her involvement in extracurricular activities and charitable works, but also for her fantastic imagination, and her wonderful character and beautiful personality. Her teachers would congratulate her mother on how generally fantastic Alice-May was, in every aspect of life that they had seen her or heard about her in the news, through word of mouth from local charities and care facilities she would volunteer in and watched as she interacted with other children and members of the public- no matter their age, gender, race, religion, ability or belief, calling her an “absolutely outstanding, phenomenally well-rounded and generous member of society”. Both her teachers and her mother were incredibly proud of her and would tell her as often as they could that she would go very far in the world- whatever she chose to pursue in later life.

Shaving Foam
Today is the first day of the week. They taught me in kindergarten that it's called Monday. And that it comes after Sunday, when we order pizza at night and Flo lets me watch the goals on TV. Mom told her that I like to watch the goals, so she lets me go to bed later to watch Futbol de Primera, my favorite TV show. Then there's The Fantastic League and The Power Rangers, but soccer is my favorite.

Unwed Mother Having her 8th Baby
I have known this person for well over 20 years now. When my daughter(this is my daughter's friend) met her she had only two kids and was with the father. Well, that went sour after that she slept with everyone and everything. No lie.

My Carolina Blue Jordans
In my complete lifetime, I think I owned about 4 pairs of Air Jordans. These were my favorite pair, but let me tell you a story. The year was 1996 or so in the heart of Atlanta, GA. Times were cool and I was roommates with my closest brother, Spencer. During those days he use to model his game after Derrick Chievous. I could be totally wrong on the name, but "The Cheese" is what his co-workers would call him. Derrick's NBA fame never panned out, but he was a great college standout.

Younger Years
I never thought in a million years that pulling a straightener down thru an 8-year-old Childs hair would give me the emotional reaction that I had that day. As I continued to straighten her hair, I found myself on the verge of crying and laughing simultaneously. If you are wondering the child is my daughter, Natalie. Shes blind to the emotional roller coaster ride I'm currently on right behind her, well as a mother I really hope she is. Poor thing has been thru too much already in the 8 years she's been on earth and it's so hard for me to say but it is my fault for all of it.

NFL Teams Ranked By How Good Their Name Would Be As A Baby Name
It seems like this time of year the American people have one thing on their minds -- football, specifically the NFL, or National Football League. Now, I don't know much about the NFL but what I do know much about is baby names. I have a personal passion for names, and it seems as the years go by the horizons for what is acceptable to name your child get broader and broader. Here is my opinionated list of how NFL team names would rank as baby names, not including the city precursor, from worst to best.

The Last Photograph
In a society where social media reigns supreme, photos have become so common that they border on being mundane. Our camera rolls are filled with slight variations of the same shot in pursuit of the perfect pose and lighting to foster the desired amounts of likes and engagements. Gone are the days of winding film, taking a snap, and waiting a few weeks only to find out more than half of the images are complete crap. I sometimes wonder if the instant gratification of everyone having a camera always at their fingertips has led people to take these frozen moments completely for granted. This has never struck me quite so hard as a photo of my sisters and I at my nephew's graduation. You don't think of the evolutionary power an image can hold when a photo is snapped. Typically it isn't until you look back on the memories that it hits you... especially when the biggest unknown part of that moment is that it will become the last photograph.
