parents
The boundless love a parent has for their child is matched only by their capacity to embarrass them.
Abandoned Memories
It sits there, barely visible in the dark, fog so thick it tastes like licorice on my tongue. I hate licorice. I hate fog. I love this place. I love this aged set of swings. The metal the warped seats hang from is masticated, the brilliant neon blue paint completely devoured by the insatiable rust.

Building Strength Through Trust
What made me discover my true strengths, you ask? I believe I am in the midst of discovering some of my greatest strengths as I write this. Sitting in a little cafe called Coffee Break in Hackensack, NJ while my mother undergoes 8 hours of chemotherapy at the nearby John Theurer Cancer Center, I am finding strength and faith in places I’ve never felt before. I am simultaneously broken and renewed. There is so much more treatment still ahead of us, so many variables to consider, and unfortunately I cannot stop time or the rest of life from moving forward until it is over. I’ve already asked and it’s a pretty hard “NO”.

Meatloaf is a Liar...
Back in 2009, my daughter was moving out of state and she requested for Christmas that year, that I get her a cookbook, but she wanted a bunch of my recipes in there. I was flattered because, to be honest, my daughter to my recollection never seemed to get excited about my cooking. 🤷🏻♀️.

Are Kids Allowed to Cancel Their Teachers?
It started with her math teacher. "She doesn't teach in a way that I can understand." Our daughter, who struggles at school, was having a tough time in math, and her teacher had a very traditional teaching style that was not working for her. We spoke with our older daughter, a great student who had had this same math teacher. She confirmed that she wasn't a great teacher and had a style of teaching that would be very hard for our younger daughter to keep up with. So, we spoke with the school, and they switched her to another class — our school is fantastic that way.

Let's Get Real at the End of 2021 Share Joy and Fears
There are moments in our life where we walk past pure, perfect moments and forget to see them. This morning I came downstairs; my two-year-old sat in a large blue bucket filled with Rice Krispies throwing them in the air with a look of pure joy on her face. The joy a toddler takes from the simple things should never be overlooked.
