parents
The boundless love a parent has for their child is matched only by their capacity to embarrass them.
Dad had planted the trees
Dad had planted trees. He loves trees. That is why every different kind of tree that would grow strong in the unpredictable Chicago weather now stood on our front lawn. They looked like miniature toy soldiers standing in lines ready for a parade. In reality, those trees were probably as tall as I am. At least the ones that had survived the attacks from the small band of deer that roamed through our neighborhood.

Tips for Coping with Postpartum Depression
After you have a baby, you are going to go through so many emotions, often in a short period of time. Tips to Stay Connected To Each Other As New Parents
As new parents, we are so focused on our babies that we often overlook our partner. Having a baby can be really stressful. How Pretty I Was I Never Knew
I thought I was a beautiful baby sure, but did I think I was picture-perfect beautiful? No, I did not. Did I think I was so pretty that my picture could be in a magazine, or I could have my picture painted by a famous artist? Of course, not. I am even surprised to say that I had a random photographer come up to me and my mother and ask to take my picture and for him to compliment her on what a beautiful baby I was. I would even be surprised that somebody would just compliment me the way that this man did. I bet that made my mom feel good and proud.

One Last Time
2021 in a nutshell? If I knew how to use my keyboard to make an emoji, I would do that. It would suffice as both a representation of the current status of my life, and the progression of the year as a whole. It would be a round face as usual, but it would be a more withered and battered expression, with bloodshot eyes, a slightly bent nose, and a few crooked teeth. Boom. I’ve just described my actual face. I am an emoji of myself.

Father
Father “We haven’t had enough time,” I whispered under my breath while standing in that hospice wishing my father could speak to me. I could see the expression on his face, and I could tell he wanted to say something so badly, but his body was so broken down from the cancer that he could not speak.
