parents
The boundless love a parent has for their child is matched only by their capacity to embarrass them.
A hint of Daddy's Love
Letter to Daddy, Pounding hearts always fill my body when I get the love, I deserve from you Daddy. Not knowing where to be and not knowing what to feel has always been clarity enough for me to latch on to your love. Every step of my intellectual growth is because of you and how you never gave up showing and teaching me the right steps to take in life and situations.

Being the "Dad Friend"
I am what is considered a "dad friend," a title I take extremely seriously. Calling someone a "dad friend" seems like something benign, of no actual consequence to anyone's life, but it's not as simple as it sounds. Being the "dad friend" doesn't mean just being parental and laid back, or just the opposite of the constantly prepared and worried "mom friend." Being a "dad friend" requires encompassing all the components of being a dad without actually being one.

My Dad
Have you ever seen your teacher outside of school as a kid? They look so weird. They aren't supposed to be getting groceries in their sweatpants! They should be at school making a lesson plan or something. Then you get older and start to realize that everyone you know has a whole life outside your limited understanding of them. I wish I had realized that about my parents before now.

I Never Had a Father
I never had a father. I had a Daddy. There’s a difference, you know. A father plants his seed with his DNA into a woman. She gives birth to a baby. The seed planter is a FATHER. I could go on about what his responsibilities to that baby are, and tell you that some men live up to them and some don’t, but that’s a story for another time.

Yup, that's my dad.. Top Story - June 2022.
In honour of father's day, I decided that for the 'dads are no joke challenge', I'd do something a little different. I decided that instead of one long story about my dad being my dad, I'd tell you ten mini stories of times when my dad was... well... in classic dad mode.

Don't Mess with this Mother
Chapter One: Watching Movies on the Bathroom Floor It is October in the Midwest: wet, cold, windy, grey and raw outside most of the time, that awful transition period between real summer, or Indian Summer if you are lucky that year, and the real beginning of winter when the snow begins to fall. We (myself, my husband, and our 14 month old son) now live in a place that regularly has five feet of snow on the ground most of the winter months, light snows in October are not unheard of, and at least one blizzard is pretty much expected come the month of April. Just a note, our first winter in this “wonderland” ended with four blizzards in a row in the middle of April.

Slammin' at Silverwood
It was around four in the morning on a Thursday when my dad woke me up. We were going to go to the lake. The plan was just me, him, and the new Polaris he had gotten a few weeks earlier. Getting up this early ensured that we would be one of the first people to launch off the dock. We packed up, left the house, and went for gas. After getting gas we started the drive through the mountains to the lake.

Dads are no joke
My dad, where do I begin. My dad taught me strength, he gave me the kind of strength and a protection of unconditional love that kept me alive. If you knew me or my story you would be shocked I am. There’s moments I remember him taking my brother and I out motorbike riding quote “if you don’t fall off your not going hard enough”, only thing was if you did you weren’t allowed to cry.

The Eager Emu
I should start by saying that this story is as sad as it is funny. It was over twenty years ago, back when I lived in California with my mom and dad. I was at the end of middle school maybe the beginning of high school, so 8th to 9th grade. My mom worked a Monday through Friday job while my dad had a weekday off, so he worked Saturday.

From David to Dad. Top Story - June 2022.
The pain was so intense. I sat on the hot sidewalk, holding my foot as tears streamed down my face. My mom bent down and reached for one of the six sticker burrs that had penetrated the bottom of my foot when I ran through the neighbors yard. I screamed, or perhaps it was more of a screech. The thought of her touching it was just too much for my five year old brain to take. What if she pushed it in further by mistake? How was I ever going to be free of this agony?

The Best Fathers On Earth
A father is someone that will always be there for you no matter what the situation is. My father was only in my life for only three years. My father, Anton S. LaVey, didn't know I was even a life until I needed a blood transfusion. That's how he found out about me. Since then, my father spent all the time he could with me until he passed away on October 29, 1997. Before he passed, he said I would be very happy soon with a special person because this person owed him a favor. After my father's passing, I became depressed and wanted to die. Though I remembered my father as my best friend, my partner in crime, and my shoulder to cry on. I had photos of him and me and memories to fall on. Even the fact that I would be happy very soon with a special person. Let me tell you this person is very special and my father Anton was not lying, when he said I would be happy with this person later on in life. I love and miss my father so much, wish he was here with his grandchildren to play with and enjoy.
