Little Cabin in the Woods
The woods were usually quiet, save for the typical rustles of critters in the brush. And in the quiet of the trees, a cabin could just be made out, nestled within a grove of towering pines. This cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The candle was the brightest thing amongst the blackening trees. Autumn was falling on the landscape, leaving the trees stripped bare and the stench of rotting leaves warming the air. But with the stench of rot came the early crest of night, so the candle burned, seemingly alone in the encroaching darkness.

Speak to me
The world is too full of silence. Still and heavy, suffocating with every space between breaths. I fill it with music and dialogue. Mozart, Papa Roach, Panic! at the Disco, but the silence persists, ever present. My body spasms and shrieks in pain, joints popping, bones pushing through muscle hoping to distract me but it is only the ringing in my ears that provides slight relief.

Morning Bliss. Top Story - June 2024.
Something pulls at me. The darkness no longer so dark, but a softer gray, a flutter of light. The feeling of skin against sheets is fleeting, quickly drowned out by the push of bone against muscle, of nerves once silent now screaming. Awareness is painful, every breath rattling my ribs and pushing my spine against its cord.
