4 Tips for Getting Rid of Old Toys as Your Kids Age
As a parent, you've undoubtedly asked yourself more than once why a toy or two was in your living room or kitchen and not in your child's toy box where it belonged. You may have even tripped on a small piece and threatened to toss all toys. Perhaps you have multiple children and have even had to break up a fight over a toy that suddenly both wanted to play with or possess. If that is you, know that you aren't alone.

The Good Old Days: Taking on the Outdoors With Your Kids
When we think about the good old days of our childhood, images of playing outside for hours on end with our friends, begging our parents to stay outside for an extra half hour, and getting our children’s raincoats muddy without caring all spring to mind. Nowadays, technology plays a significant role in our children’s everyday lives, making their experiences different to ours. Although mobile phones, game consoles, and the internet allow them to entertain themselves for hours on end, spending time outdoors and socialising with their friends in person is very important.

Ghetto Royalty
Once upon a time, there was a King and a Queen. The Queen had given birth to six sons and one daughter. The princess was the oldest who loved to dance, draw pictures, and tease her brothers. She did not have her own private space in their ghetto apartment. The princess spent her nights sleeping on the couch. Every prince loved to eat, run, play computer games, and sports. The princes all shared a room that had two bunk bed sets and a twin bed in it. Monday thru Friday, the children would go to school until three o'clock. Then they would go to the Boys & Girls Club of America until six o'clock at night. The King was a plumber and spent most of his time dealing with sewage, so he smelled bad every time he got home. The Queen cleaned homes and office buildings. When they returned home, everyone could not wait to eat and take baths. Since there was only one bathroom, everyone took turns, and the King always went first. While all the children were waiting for their turn in the bathroom, they finished their homework. After eating diner, the Queen would read her children bedtime stories. Every story was always a fairy tale with a happy ending and nothing like what people experienced in real life.

The Crew and the Magic House
Once upon a time there was a young turtle that lived deep in the woods named Saturn. He woke up each morning with a smile upon his face, and nothing but excitement for the day. This particular morning the sun was peeking through the leaves of the tree, and shinning right on to his face. Saturn was so excited that the day was finally here, the day that he would get to see some of his friends. He jumped out of bed and ran down the hallway of his tiny home to the bathroom where he brushed his teeth. He pulled his best shirt down over his head, and slid his feet into his brand new pair of sneakers. He was humming a tune, as he tied his shoes as quickly as he could. No time to waste this morning, Saturn thought. He grabbed some greens and strawberries out of his refrigerator and threw them into his shirt pocket as he ran towards the door.

Cultivating a Narnian Legacy
If I ever needed to join a twelve step program it would surely be for my addiction to books. I don’t ever remember not being able to read and being homeschooled in the 80s when it was not popular. My books and my brothers were my best friends though the order switched from time to time.
