Dieting For Children
It is irksome in the world we live in to look as such innumerable adolescents are from a genuine perspective overburdening their bodies at such young ages by being overweight. These young people basically can't run, jump, and play with various children considering the way that their bodies essentially won't allow them to do thusly. For these adolescents, counting calories is practically a need no matter what our sincere endeavors to shield them from the certainty gives that often go with weight.

OF RAISING HOTHOUSE CHILDREN
OF RAISING HOTHOUSE CHILDREN! Any attempt or struggle to create a better society anywhere in the world is always a commendable endeavor. Such effort should attract support from everyone irrespective of race, tribe, tongue, or religion. For the sake of clarity and not to fall into presumption, a better society can be defined as one that has already achieved or is working towards achieving an educated citizenry with a stable economy, security, plans, and purposeful direction for growth and development. This is important because knowledge and literacy in a society determine a lot, particularly on how children are raised. The logic is that if a society fails to educate the people, they will step into parenthood ignorantly to the detriment of their children. And a wrongly raised child becomes a liability not only to himself and his family but to society in general. It is clear many today are raising hothouse children, in the belief that they want to give the best of everything in life to them, and such, to them is love. Such resolve to pamper children often stemmed from trying to prevent the children from going through bitter experiences like you. Still, no matter in what guise or reason, children are prevented from experiencing life by themselves, it is a wrong strategy that ends up often with ugly consequences.

My Forever Friend Barkley
My dog Barkley was a basset hound that would howl at the moon and sat on top of his crate like Snoopy from Charlie Brown. My dad brought him home in a gift box one afternoon to surprise us! He’d howl and I sang. We had a little duet, and neither of us were very good when we were young pups, but we formed our own wolf pack and became pretty good.

Pinky Promise
An old, dirty snow globe sits atop a computer desk in the living room. An interracial family portrait is beside it. Above, a giant calendar push-pinned onto the chipped, gray wall reads, “December 24, 2022.” A middle-aged woman kneels on a couch adjacent to the desk. She wears a white apron over a black, knee-length dress.

Forgotten Memories
“Good morning Grandpa!” I bellowed as I walked through the front door, the crisp Iowa cold rushing after me. He tilts his head slightly towards me with a soft smile and a far-off stare. I shut the door behind me and hang up my jacket. “Did you want your other blanket?” I ask as I step over the large quilt crumpled next to his recliner.

The Search For Home
Gently, softly, gliding through the air, snow fell from the cold, bleak winter sky. Blanketing the ground in a tender fleece. Tenderness that is deceptive to say the least, giving the illusion of firm solidity. Only to have the mirage dissipate under the weight of formulated matter. Formulated matter that leaves behind traces and steps leading to a path unknown to the knower. A path chosen by the one who captions her soul and the masters of her fate. She is the one who leads and does not follow. She takes one step then two, perceiving progressive forward movement without knowing the conclusion.

Return of the Night Owl
Yarha was only seven years old when she learned of an untold secret. Hidden at the top of the hill was the “Tree of Life”. The tree was no ordinary tree. It had great significance to Yarha. The tree trunk shed as it aged, flaunting in it new skin, blossomed in the spring and stood bare during winter. This year was the year of “old lady summer.” This particular summer went into the fall, cheating the the season of winters day to come. November was her name, a time when nature glowed in gold, the sky ripples with shadows of the sun, as the days grew short and the nights were young.

My Friend Oscar
I wonder if Mom will notice that I’m outside, thought Ellen. On clear nights like tonight she loved to lay in the grass behind the house and gaze up at the stars. I think I should become an astronomer when I grow up, she thought to herself. Maybe I’ll discover a brand new star? Or a whole star system? That would be so cool, she thought. The night wore on and she was desperately trying to keep her eyes open for just a little while longer. I probably shouldn’t sleep out here. There are all kinds of night animals that scare me. Just a few more minutes...
