Amaryllis is a lovely flower used for Christmas décor. The plant is vibrant red or red and white mix, making the holiday bright. Amaryllis is a plant that grows from a bulb and can be bought with the bulb already planted in a pot. You can grow it on your own in the autumn in warm climates or in a greenhouse. The flower will be in full bloom six weeks after planting.

Even though Anthuriums are tropical plants, they can provide a Christmasy look in your home. They are red and do well as indoor plants, giving much holiday appeal. The plant also purifies the air and gets rid of toxins.

Christmas cactus is a wonderful plant to have, as it blossoms forth in lovely blooms and comes in a variety of colors and mixes. A Christmas cactus can live up to 100 years and is easy to care for. It can also surprise you and bloom any other time of the year also.

Christmas rose, or hellebore, blooms in the winter and provides lots of holiday cheer. (pictured above) The clippings can be brought inside to decorate. The plant is hardy and will bloom in mid- to late winter.

The vivid red cyclamen is a popular Christmas plant. It is a winter flower that provides holiday cheer. This indoor plant can be purchased in the autumn and winter and will bloom inside. As the outside temperatures rise the plant goes dormant until next autumn. Once it stops blooming, store it, and plant it again the following autumn season, and it will bloom again.

Gardenia is an elegant flower that adds a lovely touch to Christmas parties. It wafts off a nice fragrance as it grows indoors. This Christmas plant does best kept by a window to get at least four hours of direct sunlight. You can provide the plant with some extra humidity using a small humidifier.

The holly is another popular Christmas plant and can be used to deck your halls. People grow holly bushes outside their homes. The plant is a festive red and green, just the right holiday colors, and with rich red berries that are for enjoying but not for eating.

Mistletoe is the traditional Christmas plant you hang from the ceiling or in doorways, and when someone stands beneath the mistletoe, they have to kiss. This plant grows out of deciduous trees and is mainly found in the US in North Carolina. This plant has to be hung high enough to keep away from pets and from kids. It is poisonous if ingested.

Moth orchid is a plant with an elegant look. It is beautiful to have on display at Christmastime. This plant is becoming more popular as people use it to decorate their homes or give the plants as gifts.

Among the best known are poinsettias, which are the most popular Christmas plants. The traditional color of these flowers is red, but they also come in shades of pink and in white. People enjoy displaying poinsettias around their houses. The soil of these plants needs to remain moist.

Rosemary is for decorating and for cooking. It has a decorative look just right for the holidays. The springs remind people of Christmas evergreens, and they can be cut to decorate napkin holders or give drinks a festive look.

Winter honeysuckle is too large to grow indoors, but you can cut honeysuckle clippings that are great for decorations and place them in vases to enjoy the fragrance and lovely blooms.
