Wildlife of Mongolia

The Asian country of Mongolia is home to many different animals among them are 139 mammal species, 449 bird species, 22 reptile species, 76 fish species, and 6 amphibian species. The animals make their homes in rolling plains, high plateaus, mountains, and desert lands.

Official National Animal

The Przewalski horse

Przewalski’s horses can be found in the Hustai National Park.

The Gorkhi-Terelj National Park has many mountainous areas.

The Siberian musk deer make their home here.

Also in this park, you can find brown bears

Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park has cliffs and mountainous areas. In this park, you can find Altai snow cocks as well as Bactrian camels.

Native Animals

Snow leopards are a beautiful and rare species of felid. They’re native to the Central and South Asia mountains.

Asiatic wild asses are a species of equid native to Asia. They live in the deserts and arid regions of Mongolia.

Saiga antelopes are a peculiar species of antelopes with broad trunks that serve as noses.

Gobi bears are among the rarest subspecies of brown bears in the world. They’re endemic to the Gobi Desert of Mongolia. These bears have a golden fur.

Gray wolves are among the most common mammals in the world. They can be found roaming in many countries in the mountains.

Argali are a species of wild sheep that are native to the Altai Mountains, the Himalayas, Tibet, and the western parts of East Asia.

Corsac foxes are a medium-sized species of foxes that are native to semi-deserts, deserts, and steppes of Central Asia, from Mongolia to northeastern Asia.

Goitered gazelles are a species of gazelles found in the steppes of Mongolia and other countries.

Birds

White-napped cranes are locally critically endangered in Mongolia.

Golden eagles are a large species of birds of prey native to much of the Northern Hemisphere.

Wildlife of Myanmar

The Asian country of Myanmar was formerly called Burma. This is a mid-sized country in southeast Asia and is bordered by India, Bangladesh, China, Laos, Thailand, and the Indian Ocean. The country has tropical rainforests, wetlands, mountains, plains, and coastlines.

Gaurs also known as Indian bison are the largest species of bovid in the world.

Bharals are also referred to as blue sheep. They’re a species of carpine native to the high altitudes of the Himalayas. These animals have been introduced to Myanmar, Bhutan, and Pakistan.

Asian golden cats are a medium species of wild cats native to southeast Asia, China, and northeastern parts of the Indian subcontinent.

Sun bears are a species of bears native to southeastern Asia. They are the world’s smallest bears.

Sunda flying lemurs are a species of colugos native to southeastern Asia.

Burmese hares are a species of mammals native to Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Malayan tapirs are the only species of tapirs native to southeastern Asia.

Pangolins can be found throughout southeastern Asia.

Bengal slow lorises are a species of primates native to Indochina and the Indian subcontinent.

Myanmar snub-nosed monkeys are a species of primates that are endemic to northern Myanmar.

Asian elephants are the only species of elephants that live outside of Africa. They’re native to southern and southeastern Asia.

Clouded leopards are a species of wild cats native to most of Asia. In Myanmar, they live in the hill forests of Karen State.

Dugongs are a species of marine mammals related to manatees.

Birds

Black eagles are a large species of birds of prey native to southeastern China and southeast Asia.

Red-headed vultures are a species of Old World vultures.
