How To Peel A Mango
Some Advice From My Son-in-Law

Introduction
I was chatting with my son-in-law Mark the other week and the concept of fruit cutting and peeling came up. There are three fruits that I tend to cut up and keep in the fridge to eat later.
I am fine with Honeydew Melon, I can just about deal with Pineapple, but Mango I found very awkward.
Mark then told me I should use a potato peeler to remove the outer skin then cutting up the mango is very easy.
I've included a video showing three methods to cut a Mango, but I have just gone for the potato peeler method.
Cutting Up The Mango
My potato peeler of preference is a Lancashire Potato Peeler.
I peeled two mangoes as you can see and that left them ready for cutting. When I previously just cut them with a knife I could only get thin slices with skin on and then there was a lot of flesh left on the "pit" but that could be chewed off but not kept.
When I had peeled the mango I could slice huge chunks off the "pit" and although the "pit" is apparently edible (it is very hard) I just binned it for composting.
Now I have a big dish of juicy mango chunks and my Lancashire Potato now has another use.
Conclusion
This piece is not long enough for FEAST but is a CRITIQUE of a favourite fruit of mine and the way of peeling it and eating it.
That is why this is in CRITQUE.

Good tip Mike. Mangoes are great, but they are a pain to deal with.
great ideaπ
I agree that a mango is a tricky fruit to cut up! I will try your recommendation on the potato peeler!
It depends on the type of mango. For ripe mango, it's best not to peel it but cut it in two against the seed and spoon the mango out. Hard skin mango its best to peel to eat.
I rip off the skin using my hands, eat the flesh sticking on the skin and then bite into the mango like biting into an apple and eat the whole thing like that, lol
