The Unsolved Axe Murder of Daniel Morgan
Just after 9pm on the 10th March 1987, 37 year old Daniel Morgan a private detective, after having a drink with Jonathan Rees his business partner at the Golden Lion pub in Sydenham, walked to his BMW in the car park. He was found dead at 9.40pm by the side of his car next to two packets of Golden Wonder crisps he had brought for his children. He had been struck three times in the back of the head with an axe, killing him instantly. Lying prone dead on the floor, a fourth blow was struck embedding the axe in his face and severing his brain stem. A truly horrific personal murder. This unsolved case is the most investigated murder case in British Criminal History. Strangely hardly anyone is aware of the case and the extraordinary story of what may have happened defies belief.

Modern technological advances in genetic testing have contributed to the apprehension of many killers from the 60s and 70s. I always enjoy reading about it when law enforcement identifies these monsters, convicts them and then sends them to prison. One case I am still confident of being solved is the murder of a Cleveland, Ohio teenager named Beverly Jarosz.

Lake Charles, Louisiana is generally a quiet town. I've lived here since 2009. People come here to gamble at our casinos and sometimes to gawk at the damage. We have had our fair share of bad luck recently with two major hurricanes, a deadly freeze, and a citywide flood within a year. If you say you lost your home in the flood you'll likely be asked, "Which one?" But no bad luck compares to The Murders. You see, we have murders here every now and then just like any other town. In Lake Charles though, if you mention The Murders you don't need to go into any further detail, because everyone knows you're talking about the bone-chilling case of KK’s Corner.
