The Little Black Book
The Little Black Book:The Christmas Murder By Connie Soles I barely knew Walter, even though he worked in the office next to mine. We kept meeting at the elevator as we left work at almost the same time of day Monday through Friday. Like most elevator rides, the decent started and ended in silence. It is just weird to me for a group of people riding in an elevator to remain completely quiet and not say a word.

El Tonelero Diabolico Blanco
“Abuelo, quédate conmigo, por favor”, the little girl murmured softly. “Grandpa, please stay with me.” The old man looked into her eyes, and wished more than anything that he could give her what she wanted. He wasn’t tired of living, but he’d lived at least two lives. He just couldn’t bear to break her heart. He’d caused enough heartbreak already. “Es la hora, mija.”. His breathing slowed, and on the backs of his eyelids a staccato slideshow of those lifetimes flickered. His face gave only the barest indication of the scenes he was reliving. His expression flowed from pride through amusement, then darkened as regret drew his features taut. The little girl would have been pleased that reflecting on his all-too-brief time with her had restored the sun in his soul, both in the moment and in his life.

The Wolf Spider's Web
A piercing knife-like pain scratched Obianuju’s thigh jolting her up and out of her haze, the putrid stench stung her nostrils as she inhaled the dirty air around her. She glanced down at her bruised thigh, stained and bloodied, mottled with marks and abrasions of unknown origin. She stroked it carefully, feeling the grittiness and undulations of her skin. Her hand ran further up to the origin of her pain, she jumped abruptly and immediately. Her gasps were sudden - she looked down at her arms; there were red wheels and small pimples from hard contact, she began to fear her condition. She desperately began to run her hands over her limbs; her arms, her legs, her feet, as if to test that they were really hers. Her body felt different and detached, she felt her hair knotted and twisted, matted and wet from sweat and no doubt tears. Her face burned and stung as she gently traced the outline with her fingers, she didn’t remember...she couldn’t remember.

Forever Mine
She ran down the street as fast she could, trying not to knock anyone down. It was 4:55 and she had until 5:00 to get there before they close. “Only one more block” she thought as she was almost there. She had an important package that she had to send off today at the post office. She knew that if she didn’t make it there it would get to Jerry in time. “Yes” she said partly out of breath as she made it there at 4:57. She walked in and went straight to the counter. “How can I help you” the clerk asked, a little annoyed because it was so close to closing time. “Yes, I have a package I need to send to Los Angeles, California.” “Standard or Express shipping?” the clerk asked. “Express” she said as she knew Jerry needed this A.S.A.P.

A Change of Heart
The days always started off the same way. The sun slowly reached its arms over the western skyline, the city filled the air with its awakening roar, and Lucas Adams stumbled his way up the stairs with a head full of booze, regrets, and a deep longing for something more. That more being his soft warm bed at the moment.

A Descent Into Sentiment
I must be different. Incredulous is the only word that keeps pounding inside my head. Incredible. This place is impossible, yet, it is the most possible place that has ever existed. A place that has been here longer than almost any other. That should make it the most credible place to exist.
