Instead, it was a day that left one neighborhood and community in Calaveras County, California, saddened, stunned, and confused. Three Eighty At Three A.M
Ten years gives a man a long time to think, especially on Texas’ death row. I never thought I would end up in Livingston for something other than a lake trip. Yet, here I am, just mere hours away from being euthanized by the state. When I was a kid, I used to have dreams where I would fall out of the sky. I would never hit the ground, though. I would wake up just in time to avoid the sudden impact at the end of the vertical journey. Of course, while I wish I could just wake myself up out of prison, I must come to terms with the fact that I’m about to fall into a permanent sleep. While I’m at it, I guess I should ask myself, what happened to me? What was the chain of events that led to me sitting here in prison garb, on a cot that works better as a bulletin board?

Dear Officer, I met your family recently. They all speak very highly of you. But what I want to know is, where were you? Ten years ago, she was a beautiful, full figured woman with long red hair and pouting lips. Now, she is 30 years old but looks more like 40.

The Binder
Listening to the water lap away at the edge of the lawn as the wind caresses my face. I can only smile. We did it. WE DID IT! We saved one more. This one was a little bit harder to handle for me. I knew Samantha’s grandmother personally. She was a friend, family. I had stood and looked her in the eye and promised to be there for her granddaughter. I will not stop now. Right now, I want to just sit here. Inhale the sweet scent of nature and good wine. Tomorrow will come soon enough, and I’ll fight more idiots then.
