As times get harder in Ghana, the second highest scamming country in Africa is turning to scamming and defrauding even each other in order to get out of Ghana. Sadly many are bringing their tribalism, xenophobia and scamming with them.

Just two weeks ago 4 Ghanaians were arrested in the United States for using fake transcripts in order to gain student visas.

In Bethlehem Pennsylvania, Four international Lehigh University students have been arrested and expelled, accused of faking transcripts to get into the school. Evans Oppong, Cyrilstan Sowah-Nai, Otis Opoku and Henry Dabuo are facing forgery and theft of services charges.

An affidavit says one of their brothers was recently admitted to the school, but his age raised alarms, prompting university officials to take a closer look at his application, WFMZ-TV reported.

They say his transcript had "concerning formats, markings, and spelling errors," leading them to question its validity and rescind his admission.

Court paperwork says the school then looked back at four students' applications, who mentioned each other within them.

Police say with the help of the U.S. Department of State, the university discovered more fake transcripts. The four had each already received anywhere from $120,000 to $212,000 in financial aid.

In January 2024, Kofi Amankwaa and his son Kofi Amankwaa, Jr. were charged with immigration fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States. The charges stem from a large-scale immigration fraud scheme in which the Amankwaas allegedly tricked vulnerable immigrants into paying thousands of dollars for fraudulent services. The victims were reportedly deported as a result.

This is also happening to African Americans living in Ghana, as Ghana immigration officers have been scamming US and tricking us into signing fake marraige certificates, while paying thousands of extra dollars.

Several Ghanaians have not told me that there are Ghanaian political officials selling speaclized visas from for the United States of America. One man, who is married with 3 children but hasn't worked in several months said he was asked for $5,000 USD to obtain a visa to the US.

Others have paid some where upwards of 125,000 GHC, which is much closer to $10,000 USD. The man that told me about this already paid the money for his sister, who has made it to America last month (August).

Sadly when she arrived, the Ghanaian friend to her brother informed her that she could no longer stay at his home. She was left scrammbling for a place to live without a job, she found a place but has no clue how she will maintain the rent for the next year.

Her brother can now no longer afford his trip to Canada were he was set to attend university. He was even scammed by a Ghanaian in Ghana, he no longer wants to live in Ghana, he has even said if it weren't for his father he would never return to live in Ghana again.

As Ghanaians are putting it, "Ghana is Hot!" Most are trying to get out any way possible while many African Americans are still pushing for the move to Ghana. Crime is on the rise, with a 5th conflict area just recently added another deadly chieftaincy dispute.

In Janurary of 2024, a Ghanaian official was detained in China for some sort of visa fraud as well.

The scamming and fraud news coming from Ghana and Ghanaians has prompted a Nigerian vlogger to mock the country, as Ghanaians are often accusing Nigerians of doing the same thing that several of their own have been arrested for.
