I will never forget how I felt living in Ghana, it was never a moment where I felt welcome or at total peace because of the complexion of my skin. I laugh when I see the few lighter skin Black Americans proclaiming how wonderful Ghana is to them. I also noticed that in almost every video of Black Americans in Ghana that ligher skin Black people are often missing. I mean surely we exist, in the United States I can't help but see the various shades everywhere I go.
From the moment you step into Ghana they are on you like flies on a dead piece of animal flesh. Begging, trying to touch you, calling you insulting things that one would normally keep to themselves.
I was always looked at like this big, fat, ATM machine, not even a human worth respect. Funny how many people when asked about what they missed about the home countries while living in Ghana proclaimed they missed "honesty!"
Because in Ghana that was such a rare thing to get from the people who have lived their entire lives in Ghana. Many who never even left the areas in which they were born and raised.

I've written about all of this in my book, 'The Unwelcoming To Ghana; You Don't Invite Someone To A Dirty House', which is on sale on Kindle and Amazon. I am working on my 3rd book which will include some issues that I hadn't included in that book. This issue will surely be added because it is not the first time Ghanaians went on a xenophobic rant.

I was often annoyed that I couldn't even walk down a road without several Ghanaians shouting names, either it was about my weight, my locs or my skin color. I even remember going into a crowded Mangos Resturant in East Legon where over 60 people all stared at me. Even stopped eating to just watch me walk to my table.

I remember hearing one woman, loudly proclaim, "no, she's not white, she's a Black American!" I was happy but also drained, thinking that this was forever going to be my life in Ghana. I hated it so much! If I was white what did it even matter? Why would people stare so much and say loudly ignorant things?
However today on Friday, 17 May 2025, Ghana immigration went out to the streets of Accra and rounded up humans they called "beggars!" They litterally called other Black Africans beggars, in a country where they are the 2nd highest scamming in Africa and the 5th highest in the world.

I was constantly bothered by Ghanaians, even people I tried to befriend turned into beggars, scammers and theives. The only people that never tried to take from me where Nigerians, Liberians, Chadians and others living in Ghana, even some South Africans. These were people who knew what it felt like to be foreigners in Ghana.
Once young Chadian said to me, "Ghanaians are hypocrites!" It was the one of the most eye opening events to ever happen to me. He talked often about he double speak and hypocrisy that Ghanaians showed to others who were not 'natives', believe it or not as soon as others from outside of Ghana started gaining citizenship, Ghanaians started using the term native or indigenious Ghanaians. What?

They want to be seen as "real Ghanaians", the others are fake they way I was told while living in Ghana that I wasn't even a "real" Black person. Here I want to share with you some of the videos from Ghana's sweaping immigration actions as well as dozens of their hateful comments. The comments from Ghanaians who called themselves welcoming and PanAfricanist.

This is one of the comments of someone who used their humanity. How can Ghana claim that every African is welcome to Ghana? The Ghana immigration services claims these people are going to be deported back to their countries, like Trump in the United States, none of these people commited a crime. Ghanaians too beg on the streets all over Ghana.

The fact that there were hundreds of Ghanaians posting some of the most hateful comments was not again a surprise but because Burkina Faso is the most terrorism-effected country on earth & Ghanaians proclaim they love Ibrahim Traoré but not his people speaks of their xenophobia.
Ghanaians and many Africans have a long history of owning humans as slaves, now for tourism they'r trying to pretend that their ancestors never traded Africans to western powers. Even though Wode Maye did a video where he proclaimed it was mostly the Ashante that captured Africans and traded them at Cape Coast Ghana.
Here is my video with comments from people about how horrible life is in Ghana.

Your experiences in Ghana sound rough. It's sad that you faced so much disrespect because of your skin color. Makes me wonder why there's such a difference in how lighter and darker - skinned Black Americans are treated there. Have you tried reaching out to local groups to address these issues?
