Introduction
I often write about writing on Vocal and certainly repeat myself a lot, but sometimes you have to repeat yourself to emphasise what you are trying to say.
To this end, I utilise the excellent Vocal Search facility (although the odd time it does crash with the red message of death when you have more than one word in the search). Here are a couple of my search articles.
Why I Am Still Here
I am saddened when we lose good writers from Vocal. Sometimes it's the fact that they are not properly recognised by Vocal, while creators who have not been supportive of others seem to be continually rewarded. I won't name any of them, but I still hope that they will return because apart from being excellent writers, they are very good friends of mine, and have given me lots of love and encouragement.
I often feel like that, but the support of my friends and audience is what counts for me, and Vocal's creator base is very big, so a few bad apples can get away with not being nice.
I have passed all the milestones that matter, apart from a challenge win, but Vocal is a damned near perfect platform for writing, publishing and sharing your views, even when you think you have nothing to say, and you get paid for it as well.
The work I do on Vocal has given me my own personal library of my writing, but the poetry and the work I have done with The Glittering Fox have provided the source material for nine anthologies that are available on Amazon.
For decades, I wanted to publish a book, and, admittedly, my first one was an accident, but without Vocal, that would never have happened, and this week with Glittering Fox, I will publish my most ambitious work yet.
The friendships I have made on Vocal, I would not want to lose, and that is probably another great reason for staying on Vocal.
Vocal has changed my life for the better, and every now and then, I am inspired to write something that even stuns me. I impressed myself with my last story, which you can read here.
Often, I will look back through my work and can hardly believe how good some of my work is, and I know my friends and audience feel the same.
Almost every day, I publish two or three stories on Vocal, and I have three or four anthologies that I want to publish from the poetry I have written and saved. This is what Vocal has given me.
In twenty years, my blog has about two and a half thousand posts (and is still growing by about a post a week), but in four years, this story is number 3,226 on Vocal, that's eight hundred publications a year, an average of two a day.
Each month I cover my subscription with reads, so any bonuses just add to that to give me a little coffee money.
Conclusion
In life, when we find something that is good for us, and others endorse our feelings with support and praise, then we keep hold of that and never let it go.
Vocal has given that to me, and despite the odd problem, I do not want to let that go.
Today is another day that I have had difficulty writing, but I have managed to get this article down.
I did not expect this article to be this long, so I thank you for giving me your time, and I hope that you got something from this.

Vocal is a community that is beneficial for us writers. I don't know what I'd do without it
I don't write as much as I used to on here but still love it here.
Wix and Vocal are the only two places I publish, but Vocal it's the only place I see traffic. The support is incredible. I didn't expect it, even though I'm new to this field, this place gives me so much that I'm starting to believe in myself.
I agree, I think Vocal is great. I love the community we have here.
Bravo, Mike! I'm glad to be back.
I too hope those who left would return 🥺
No arguments from me on your thoughts about Voca. Still my favourite platform, and I second your thoughts on the creators. May we continue to see your name.
I feel the same, thankyou for sharing xx
We are all fortunate that you continue to be a pillar of the Vocal community, Mikeydred!
I totally agree. I'm always happiest when everyone is sharing their work and supporting each other. Kindness always trumps everything else x I also get a bit sad when we lose a writer on this platform because it's small and feels more like a family, it is disheartening when someone leaves. The worst thing is when the leaving was because of mean comments from others. Thanks for writing this mate x
Vocal has changed my life too. I had this idea of writing perfection and as joined and met people and submitted my stuff: I am doing it for the love of it again.
There's no doubt that the community is the best reason for being on Vocal.
I admit I was scared away for awhile however the sense of community and friendship is why I stay. I don't mind money or tips, but I have never made enough here to weight that as part of why I am here.
I agree with this article; nothing is perfect, however, this platform does give us a stage to share our work.
