Life, Me, Facebook and Vocal
Why I Sometimes Limit Myself

Introduction
I do have a few electronic devices, but probably the most powerful one is my phone. I say phone, but it's really a handheld computer. One of the problems I find is the number of apps that devices try and get you to download, or rather the app creators try to get you to download, and I do have issues when there are too many things happening.
I have to step back and let my brain and thoughts reassemble themselves.
These are my thoughts on Facebook, Vocal, and other things, and how I deal with them, especially when I am away on short breaks.
The music I have included is "Too Much Of Anything" by The Who from "Who's Next" which is appropriate for these musings as well as being a beautiful song.
Too much of anything is too much for me
Too much of everything gets too much for me
Me And Things
I do like to keep in touch with people, and Facebook is my main point of contact for friends around the world and Vocal friends. Also as an administrator in The Vocal Social Society, I need to do things on a computer, other devices, for me, don't cut the mustard.
There are four other active Administrators Heather, Gina, and the co-founders Caroline and Les with the odd drop-in from Lena, Rachel, Eric, and Bill.
For long, breaks I take a laptop, but on short, breaks I just have my phone, camera, and Kindle Fire. The Kindle Fire is good for watching videos and TV and reading but I find tablets awkward as writing devices.
I find it odd that I find it easier to write on my phone than on the Kindle Fire I found the same when I had an iPad, even with a separate keyboard pad. Strange, but that is the way I am.
I found Facebook too intrusive on my phone so removed it but left Messenger on so people can always contact me that way if needs be. I've had other things on my phone that were intrusive and leeched power so they were shown the door. I still have 125 apps on my phone, and think I use about ten.
What this means is when I am away from home for a short time I am also away from Facebook and Vocal and all the friends I am connected to via those applications.
I have Facebook Messenger and Instagram on my phone that feeds through to Facebook but I do not use the main application.
The effect of this is that when I come back I will have hundreds of notifications and that really does disconcert me. I like things to be in manageable chunks but I know I face a tsunami when I get back home.
If I installed it on my phone I might avoid this, but being away from Facebook and Vocal gives me the option to rest recuperate, and recharge, and that makes me a better creator and administrator.
The problem is that if you are away from anything for a while, you become worried that you have forgotten things, or the people you are going back to have forgotten you and this added to all those notifications is fairly disconcerting. Then when I jump back in I realise that all my fears and concerns were totally unfounded.
I know that the longer I am away, the more difficult it is to return.
Conclusion
These are just a few musings on what I behave like I do and why I do what I do. Hopefully, I have given you a few things to think about.
Thank you for reading.

Omg I can’t believe you have 125 apps on your phone! Great Article! If you removed Facebook how do you get on vocal social society??
Ditto, ditto & ditto. Apply these to whatever you want of what you have said above. You surely will not miss the mark regardless the choices you make.
The longer you are away the more difficult to return- that’s a terrific observation, and could be applied to many situations.
This is how I feel now that it's been many months since I've been active in the FB Vocal groups. But I know I don't miss anything because I read from my Vocal notifications. You do you Mike!
Fabulous piece!!! Having too many notifications is overwhelming and disconcerting. Very relatable for me!!!
😍I have different devices and each one has different apps. I only take one device with me when I go anywhere.
