Our Time

Is Precious

Introduction

I had an issue with PayPal recently, they decided it would take ten days to credit my PayPal account despite the money leaving my bank account after a few days. While I was slightly annoyed, I knew there was nothing wrong, and after a couple of emails, I decided to just wait and not waste my time.

That is what I usually do in these situations, I assess my time at a financial rate and use that to assess whether it is worth pursuing, If the cost is too much, I just leave it.

So on to the point of this article.

Our Time is Precious

I do believe that time is the most precious thing that you can give someone. It is something that once given cannot be recovered in any way. so the time that you give must be worth sharing with whoever or whatever you are sharing it with.

While we sometimes want time to ourselves to do things, I do prefer spending time with people who stimulate and inspire me, although I equally love spending my time helping people who need it, because I know that it will be appreciated and they will share their time with me should I ever need it form them.

I suppose that is a form of reciprocity. You give your time, but should never expect anything in return, but with the right person or persons you will find that it is always returned.

While I expect payment for my time that I give for work and external commercial services, the time that I give to friends and family is always given freely and that brings me great joy.

As I write this I am alone, listening to "White Chalk" by Polly Jean Harvey, and that gives my mind space to think and consider.

There are people on my mind at the moment, and I know that we will be together later and share time together giving to each other freely and both benefitting from that.

While there are things that have to be done that take time, I try to be as efficient as possible so that I can spend more time with the ones that matter to me.

This can be having fun, experiencing things together or just being there for those who need me when times are difficult.

Memories

Times spent well give us memories that we can always keep with us, it can help us realise our dreams as well. I seldom feel that I have wasted my time, apart from maybe, having to work.

If I didn't work, then I would not the have money that pays for this computer and internet access so I can write this piece and share it with you, although there are always ways and means.

I do wish we could teleport so I could easily visit my friends around the world, and even around this country, but at the moment I am fine with the technology at our fingertips.

I remember in the 1960s a call to Australia from Britain was thirty pounds a minute, that was a time when time became money.

Conclusion

I always try to make the best use of my time, sometimes just to rest, read, listen to music or watch TV, but I do love being with friends and family and those are the times that I never want to end, but while we are in them, we are generating memories that will stay with us forever.

I also sometimes don't want to sleep because I would rather be doing things but we all need rest and sleep.

I hope this little confessional has made you think a little and given you a few ideas.

A truly timely article, Mike! (Ah c'mon, you had to know I'd go there.)

  • Omggg you sometimes don't wanna sleep? I sometimes all I wanna do is sleep, lol! I also like being alone, with no people at all. I guess we're both so different!
