Tabby London
Bio
The London I've been discovering is usually off the well-beaten track.I love the nooks and crannies and walking along the streets steeped in centuries worth of history. I'm fond of Zone 1 because that's where it all began centuries ago.

Luncheon In Paris?
I love any excuse to go to Paris, even for the day. However, I’ve had a love-hate relationship with Paris for many years. I still get excited about going. Previously, I would love the journey, feel a bit ‘oh, okay’ and fall in love with the city after a couple of days. This went on with each trip. I’ve been countless times, so it’s not a one-off.

On the Buses
The red global double-decker bus is as iconic as Big Ben and the red telephone boxes. You’ll often see it in postcards and tourist photos, celebrating the city’s old historic past with modern-day innovation. My last Route Master bus trip was number 15, which was nostalgic. It was only taken out of service in 2005. Even today, the upper deck front seats provide great views.

November 5th in the UK
Before the 5th of November, we would all get ready to buy fireworks from the local newsagents. However, local newsagents no longer sell fireworks and can only be purchased from an authorised retailer. I remember buying different-coloured sparklers by myself, but my parents were needed for fireworks. Once we were old enough, our parents would take us and our neighbours' children to the local park, where there were organised fireworks displays.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF THE POLICE PUBLIC CALL BOX
Ever stumbled across a blue box on a London street corner and thought, "What's that all about?" Well, you've just encountered a piece of British history – the Police Public Call Box. These blue beauties were once the backbone of London's policing system, but now they mostly collect dust and tourist selfies.

Battersea Power Station
The rebirth of an old relic is quite exciting. I enjoy going to Battersea Power Station. I particularly like it in the summer because they’ve got deck chairs outside and you could easily spend a couple of hours out in the fresh air, depending on the weather.

The Three Gold Coaches in London
I've been lucky to see all three Gold Coaches - The Coronation Coach, The Speaker's Coach and the Lord Mayor's Coach. They might be too much for some people, but each one is important in its own right because it has a historical significance.

Light Into Life
A visit to Kew Gardens isn't just about going there, having a good time and forgetting about it. I find that it rejuvenates the mood but also puts things into perspective. Kew Gardens is a beautiful place, and as you walk through the main gate, you can leave the stresses of City living behind you.

The National Gallery
The National Gallery is an institution. Most London kids go to the Gallery with paper and pencil in hand for an afternoon drawing. I have very fond memories of my time at the Gallery. I remember crouching down on the floor with my friends, trying to capture the Monet Waterlily painting.

MARBLE HILL HOUSE
Remember I said I planned to visit Marble Hill House in my last blog? Well, I managed to go back to Twickenham and visit. This time, I went via Richmond and saved myself some money, which I then spent in the Marble Hill House cafe after my visit. Who said Cinderella isn't economical? 😅. Plus, Marble Hill House is free to visit. I think that's a fair win/win.

The Gloriana
The one thing that strikes you when you see the 8ft Gloriana rowing barge is the striking Gold used on the Gloriana. Did you know she’s covered in 23.5-carat gold leaf? It is unusual for any royal vessel to be this bling, but the Queen or other royal family members didn’t commission the Gloriana. It was gifted to her by a generous donor.
