Something From the Roots Pt. 1
"It's a hollow place", the people of Shadowbrook called it. A place with such beautiful trees with root vines that spreads everywhere around the forest. Legends say the roots of the trees holds the secrets of the town. But I describe it as an urban legend that makes people gossip because it's a juicy tale. A tale that is a conspiracy theory everywhere else but in Shadowbrook, the citizens talk about it as if it was alive and well. They say the roots are from a bloodline that is unbreakable. A bloodline that keeps the roots of the trees alive. I was young when the story was developed. When I was a child, it didn't quite have an effect on me. Maybe because I didn't listen to the stories. Or maybe I just didn't buy into it like every other child that lived in that town. But, going back as a 20 something in college I was wrong. So wrong...

October Book Review 1: "The Weight of Blood" by Tiffany D. Jackson
Why not start the spooky season off with a horror book review? Well, you got it, and you don't want to miss this review. I simply knew what I was going to rate this book and it was an easy 5 stars. I just enjoy a good horror atmosphere and sometimes retellings/adaptations too. And yes, I know that most times retellings/adaptations don't always hit that original peace of beautiful work as the classic copy does but with this book you won't be disappointed. You see this retelling is a retelling of the Stephan King's classic novel "Carrie". So yes, you won't be let down with this one.

Book Review: Twisted Games #2 by Ana Huang
My overall opinion/review of this book alone is beautiful. I have never read a novel like this before because I'm not into romance. But Ana Huang is going to have me love this category a lot more. I don't know if you all have been to the book section of social media lately, but this author has been getting popular by the minute. So far I can honestly say, she is up there with "Colleen Hoover" who is known for her "It Ends With Us" best seller and the top pick for romance. For the past weeks, I kept passing by YouTube book recs and social media book recs for the LONGEST. And when I keep passing by things, that means I need to check it out. I started with book 2 of the "Twisted" series because since this series is standalone (read them in different orders) I had to try book 2 out first. And I hate to say this but part 2 is my favorite. While everyone else is fawning over part 1 book, I am drooling over part 2. Here is why...

If Life Was That Simple
We spend our lives searching for things that are not always there. Sometimes the things that we search for, are not always what we need. What I'm trying to say is, I've spent half of my teenage life searching for things that I was wasting time on. Things that I didn't need in my life at the time. Lusting for those things was draining me, not just emotionally but mentally. Looking out at the beautiful scenery that glows into my view, wondering if love or anything else will come my way and have a positive impact on my life. After many disappointments coming at me in so many forms, I've just about had it. When you've had delays and negativity always around you, you get used to it. It gets to you. It gets to the point where you can't ignore those disappointments anymore. And then when they start to pile up in your head, you become so tired that you don't even have the energy for anything.

Invisible Love
After leaving work late, I was exhausted and was ready to go home. But since I still had little energy left, I went to a local cafe not too far from where my condo was. It was a beautiful night with the right breeze of wind. When I arrived at the cafe, it had very few people but enough to still have life in it. Coffee with sugar and cream, please I said while still looking at the menu. Minutes later, I decided to take a seat in the back. For some reason, I felt a sense of comfort. Maybe it was the late-night vibes I guess. But whatever it was, I was feeling good all of sudden.

A Metanoia Summer
Have you ever felt as if you had another life somewhere out in the universe? Not just any life, but a better one than you already have. I’ve always thought my grandmother had one. She used to tell me stories about the times she spent on the Titanic ship. That was before its tragedy of course. My Abuela mentioned that the summer of 1912 was a life-changing moment for her. I never knew why, until my family had a gathering one late night around spring.

Lies, Lies, Lies...
Can someone care and lie at the same time? In my opinion, I don't think that's possible because if you care or love someone so much you should tell them the truth when you lie but in this world, no one really tells the truth sometimes. It just depends on if the lie will hurt others in the process. To be fair, I am the last person that should judge anyone for not telling the truth about something. I'm not a saint when it comes to telling truths because I had a few lies I told as well and I'm not proud of that.

A Night Of Benefits
Ever since I let this person into my life, it has been a repeated cycle that is full of lust and temptation. No matter how long we don't see each other, it somehow happens over and over again. At first, it was supposed to play out as us being just friends but my feelings got in the way of that. And that's how I got in this mess. But how could I ever ignore someone who has those handsome eyes and those lips? Yeah...those damn lips. I always said he was this fantasy I thought about. Meaning, someone to come and fill my lonely space but some fantasies turn into real ones.

Behind Closed Walls Pt. 1
That summer wasn't supposed to go the way it did. It was supposed to be a fun vacation, but it wasn't like I dreamed it would be. The summer of 94 was the worst summer vacation that my friends and I had. In the back of my mind, I knew something was going to happen. I just didn't know how bad it would become. In order for you to understand what I mean by choice of words, I would have to start from the beginning.

Why Do I think DC Comics Should Make A Movie Out Of The Fictional Female Hero Vixen?
If you want to go up against someone with a wild but adventurous side there is always Vixen. Vixen is one of my top favorite characters from the DC universe overall and I think she deserves her own movie. Why? Well in regards to the African American society, she will be another black inspiration just like Black Panther. She has the looks and the brains and is someone who doesn't back down from a fight using her connections with the animals of her world. Vixen will be the first African female character to have her own movie based on the DC comics if this ever came to pass. Here is some background information...
